About Non-Work Order Materials Grids
You can add the Materials, Available Materials, and Selected Materials grids to custom forms for the Assets module and the Schedules module (PMs and PEs). There are various reasons you might want to do this.

Adding the Materials grid to an Assets module form allows you to tie parts needed for repairs or tools needed for inspection to an asset record.

If materials are tied to an asset record, when a PM schedule is created for the asset, the materials list is carried over to the Available Materials grid on the PM schedule.

Materials carried over to the PM schedule can be moved to the Selected Materials grid and will generate material issues to the work order created from the PM schedule.

If there are tools or other materials you often need for PE schedules, you can also add the Selected Materials grid to a PE Schedules form, and pass associated materials to generated work orders.
