Manage Top Menu

The Manage Top Menu page of the System Administrator Dashboard allows system administrators to organize the hierarchy of menus in the system.

To navigate to the Manage Top Menu page:

  1. Click Admin in the toolbar in the upper-right corner of the window.

    The System Administrator Dashboard page opens.

  2. Click Manage Top Menu link in the Company Administration column.

    The Manage Top Menu page opens.

  3. Follow a procedure below.

ClosedRe-Order Pages In Top Menu

You can manually re-order pages you have added to the top menu; however, you cannot manually re-order global pages and you can only move pages in the top menu to the third folder level and below.

To manually re-order pages in the top menu:

  1. Find the page you want to re-order.

  2. Click and drag the page to the location where you want it to be placed.

  3. Drop the page in its new location in the top menu.

    A Success window opens.

  4. Click OK.

    The dialog box closes.

ClosedFolder field

These procedures refer to the field that appears when you right-click a folder in the top menu folder tree.

ClosedAdd Menu Item

You can choose to select a system page to appear in the place of another system page—for example, you could choose to display the Email Log page in place of the Documents page. When you choose to change the default menu hierarchy, the default system page will no longer appear on that page. If you still want to display the default system page as an option in the field to the left of the Actions menu, you will need to add a clone of that system page to the menu structure.

You can only add pages to the top menu to the third folder level and below.

To add a system page in place of an existing global page:

  1. Right-click a third-level folder of an entity where you want to add a menu item.

    In the screen shot above, you can see that the user has right-clicked the Portfolio > Details > Summary folder.

    The Folder opens.

  2. Select Add Menu Item from the field.

    A dialog box opens.

  3. Enter the name of the item in the Name field.

  4. Enter the URL of the item in the URL field.

    The URL you enter in this field is the Top Menu URL you see when you click Link in the Actions menu on the right side of the page. See the Link procedures below.

  5. Click Submit.

    The dialog box closes. The item is added to your menu structure.

    Any additional pages you add will appear in the field to the left of the Actions menu on the right side of the page.

ClosedView Menu Item

To view the details of a menu item:

  1. Right-click a third-level folder of an entity.

    In the screen shot above, you can see that the user has right-clicked the Portfolio > Details > Summary folder.

    The Folder opens.

  2. Select View Menu Item from the field.

    The Menu Item Details dialog box opens.

ClosedAttach Layout

You can only add pages to the top menu to the third folder level and below.

To attach a layout to the menu structure:

  1. Right-click the third-level folder of the entity where you want to attach the layout.

    In the screen shot above, you can see that the user has right-clicked the Portfolio > Details > Summary folder.

  2. Select Attach Layout from the field.

    The Select a Layout dialog box opens.

  3. Select the layout you want to add to the menu structure from the field.

    You can also search for a layout by key word by using the field as a type-ahead menu.

    The layout is added to the menu structure.

ClosedMove Layout / Menu Item here as child

You can only add pages to the top menu to the third folder level and below.

To move a layout that currently exists in the menu structure to another area of the menu structure:

  1. Right-click the third-level folder on an entity where you want to move the layout.

    In the screen shot above, you can see that the user has right-clicked the Portfolio > Details > Summary folder.

    The Folder opens.

  2. Select Move Layout / Menu Item here as child from the field.

    The Please select a layout / menu item to move window opens.

  3. Select the layout / menu item you want to move.

  4. Click Move Selected Item.

    The window closes. Your changes are saved.

ClosedPage fields

Depending on whether you added a global page or a page created from the Manage Summary Pages page, one of two menus could appear. Each menu provides you with different options.

ClosedGlobal Page field

These procedures refer to the field that appears when you right-click a global page layout in the Manage Top Menu page's folder tree.

ClosedEdit Menu Item

To edit a menu item:

  1. Right-click the layout you want to edit.

    A menu opens.

  2. Select Edit Menu Item from the field.

    A window opens.

  3. Make your changes.

  4. Click Submit.

    The window closes. Your changes are saved.

ClosedDelete Menu Item

To delete a menu item:

  1. Right-click the layout you want to delete.

    A menu opens.

  2. Select Delete Menu Item from the field.

    A dialog opens, asking you to confirm your choice.

  3. Click OK.

    The page refreshes. The item is removed from the top menu.

ClosedCustom Page field

These procedures refer to the field that appears when you right-click a custom page layout in the Manage Top Menu page's folder tree.

ClosedEdit Layout

To edit the details of a layout from the Manage Top Menu page:

  1. Right-click the layout you want to edit.

  2. Select Edit Layout from the field that appears.

    The Please select a layout/menu item to move window opens.

  3. Make your changes.

    For more information about the changes you can make, please see the Manage Summary Pages page.

  4. Click Update.

    The window closes. Your changes are saved.

ClosedBuild Layout

You can quickly access the Page Layout Editor from the Manage Top Menu page.

To modify the layout of a page using the Page Layout Editor:

  1. Right-click the layout you want to edit.

    A menu opens.

  2. Select Build Layout from the field that appears.

    The Page Layout Editor opens.

  3. Follow the appropriate procedures on the Page Layout Editor page.

ClosedDetach Layout

Important!

Only click Delete or Remove if you are sure you want to delete the item. The system does not prompt you to confirm the deletion.

To remove a layout from the top menu:

  1. Right-click the layout you want to remove.

    A menu opens.

  2. Select Detach Layout from the field that appears.

    The page refreshes. The layout is removed from the top menu.

ClosedLink

These are generic procedures that are common across all or multiple areas of Lucernex. As such, these procedures do not call out specific navigation to the page.

The Link provides direct links and XML data for exports into TRAIN.

  • To access the Links to this page window, click Link.

    This displays in the Actions menu on the right side of the page.

    The Links to this page window opens.

Entity Links

  • Page URL for current [Entity]: Provides the link for the current page in the UI.

  • Page URL for [Entity] '[Name Here]': Provides a direct link to the page in the UI for the specific entity that you are currently viewing.

    This URL is useful when you want to share a direct link to a page via email.

  • Top Menu Item URL for current [Entity]: Provides a direct link to this page for use in your top menu.

Export as XML Options

To export XML data for this page:

  1. Enter any XML elements you want to include in the XML element includes field.

  2. Enter any XML elements you want to exclude in the XML element excludes field.

  3. Select or clear the following check boxes as necessary:

    • Want firm defined fields: Include your user-defined fields.

    • Want referenced records: Include referenced records, such as location data for a contract.

    • Include all records of this type: Include all records of a particular entity type, such as a contract, location, or portfolio.

    • Importing into a different firm / env: Select if you will be importing this data into a different firm or environment.

  4. Click Export.

    The export processes. An Export Status window opens.

  5. Click Save XML File.

    A Save dialog box opens.

  6. Save the file somewhere you will be able to find it on your computer.
