PPM Types
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) can have different types based on maintenance needs and compliance requirements. Most types serve as categorization preferences, except for Statutory compliance (CPPM), which includes specific functionality and compliance requirements. Define the PPM type in the Details tab when creating a PPM contract.
The 5 PPM types are:
Health and safety
Ensures equipment and facilities comply with safety regulations to prevent hazards and maintain a safe environment. For example, fire alarm and emergency lighting system checks ensure your organization function properly in case of an emergency.
Preventive
Focuses on routine maintenance to extend equipment lifespan and reduce the risk of unexpected failures. For example, lubricating moving parts in HVAC systems prevents wear and tear.
Regulatory
Ensures compliance with industry-specific regulations and standards to maintain legal and operational integrity. For example, regular calibration of medical equipment in hospitals ensures compliance with healthcare standards.
Scheduled
Follows a predefined maintenance schedule based on usage, manufacturer recommendations, or business needs. For example, monthly servicing of elevators prevents breakdowns and ensures smooth operation.
Statutory compliance
Also known as CPPM, this type ensures adherence to government-mandated inspections and servicing requirements. For example, annual gas safety inspections for boilers ensure compliance with legal safety standards.
Unlike other PPM types, selecting a CPPM includes additional compliance functionality:
-
Requires selecting a compliance category, which is configured in Admin > Compliance Categories. It defines mandatory requirements, such as certificates or site inspections.
-
Service providers must meet compliance requirements before they complete or invoice a work order. For example, they must submit certificates, complete inspections, or verify safety standards.
You can check compliance status in Service > All CPPMs to verify if a work order meets the necessary requirements.
