Create a New Sub Procedure from the Sub Procedures Grid
If you need to add a new sub procedure to a procedure record, one that is not currently in the database, you don't need to use the Sub Procedure Setup page to enter a new sub procedure. You can do so directly from the Procedure Edit page.
To add a sub procedure, follow these steps:
-
Open the Procedure Edit page.
-
Select the Sub Procedures tab.
If you are using a custom form, select the tab containing the sub procedures grid.
-
Click the New Sub Procedure button.
The New Sub Procedure window opens.
-
Click the New button next to the Sub Procedure ID field.
The window changes to allow entry of the new sub procedure.
-
In the Type field, select a type for the new sub procedure.
-
In the Text field, enter the text to be displayed for this sub procedure.
-
If the type you selected is Data Reading or Ranged Data Reading, enter a Data Reading Label.
-
In the Instructions field, enter steps to be executed for this sub procedure.
-
If the user should be required to enter the reading or notes for the sub procedure before a work order can be closed, check the Is Required option.
Whether or not a sub procedure completion is treated as a requirement to completing/closing a work order depends on whether there are asset ties in the work order and on the sub procedure.
-
For a work order with no assets tied to it, only required sub procedures with no asset tie are treated as required.
-
For a work order with one or more assets tied to it, only required sub procedures with an asset tied to them are treated as required. Required sub procedures with no asset tie can be incomplete without barring the work order from being completed or closed.
-
-
If the type selected is Ranged Data Reading, select the Ranges tab and enter the necessary ranges. For more information, see Ranged Data Reading Sub Procedure.
-
If the type selected is Choice List, select the Choices tab and enter the necessary choices. For more information see Choice List Sub Procedure.
-
If the type selected is either Choice List or Yes/No Reading, you can select a Default Value that is prepopulated into a work order when the Sub Procedure wizard or worksheet is used to complete Sub Procedure Readings.
-
Click Save to add your new sub procedure to your procedure, or click Another to save and add another sub procedure.
The new sub procedure is added to the Sub Procedures grid. Those sub procedures that are required to complete/close a work order have a value of "True" in the Required column of the grid.
Once a sub procedure is added to the grid, you can:
-
Click the Edit button next to the sub procedure to edit it.
-
Click the Delete button next to the sub procedure to delete the it.
