Create a New Sub Procedure
The Sub Procedures Setup page allows you to create a new sub procedure. You can create the following types of sub procedures:
Choice List Sub Procedure
To create a Choice List type of sub procedure, follow these steps:

From the Setup menu, select Procedures > Sub Procedures.
The New Sub Procedure window opens.

From the Type drop-down menu, select Choice List.

In the Text field, enter the text to be displayed in the Procedure Readings area on a work order.

From the Control Type drop-down menu, select from one of the following:
-
Checkbox – This type allows the user to select one or more of the available choices in the list.

Dropdown – This type allows the user to select from one of the available values in a drop-down menu.

Radio Button – This type allows the user to select only one of the available choices in the option button list.

- In the Instructions field, enter a set of instructions for completing this sub procedure.

To add choices to the sub procedure, follow these steps:

Select the Choices tab.

Click the Add New Choice button.
The Add New Choice dialog box appears.

In the Label field, enter a label to be shown for this choice in the list.

In the Value field, enter a value or text to be stored as the procedure reading in the TMS database.

In the Message field, enter text to be displayed if this choice is selected.

Click OK to save the choice or click Another to save this choice and define another.
The choices you have added are displayed in the grid. Once you have entered choices, you can edit an item, delete an item, or use the up/down arrows to change the order in which they are displayed.

Click Save to save the sub procedure or click Another to save the sub procedure and add another.
Data Reading Sub Procedure
To create a Data Reading type of sub procedure, follow these steps:

From the Setup menu, select Procedures > Sub Procedures.

The New Sub Procedure window opens.

From the Type drop-down menu, select Data Reading.
-
In the Text field, enter the text to be displayed in the Procedure Readings area on a work order.

In the Data Reading Label field, enter a value to indicate the type of data reading that is needed, for example, Volts.

In the Instructions field, enter a set of instructions for completing this sub procedure.

Click Save to save the sub procedure or click Another to save the sub procedure and add another.
Notes/Comments or Yes/No Reading Sub Procedure
To create a Notes/Comments- or Yes/No Reading-type of sub procedure, follow these steps:

From the Setup menu, select Procedures > Sub Procedures.
The New Sub Procedure window opens.

From the Type drop-down menu, select either Notes/Comments or Yes/No Reading.

In the Text field, enter the text to be displayed in the Procedure Readings area on a work order.

In the Instructions field, enter a set of instructions for completing this sub procedure.

Click Save to save the sub procedure or click Another to save the sub procedure and add another.
Ranged Data Reading Sub Procedure
To create a Ranged Data Reading-type of sub procedure, follow these steps:

From the Setup menu, select Procedures > Sub Procedures.
The New Sub Procedure window opens.

From the Type drop-down menu, select Ranged Data Reading.

In the Text field, enter the text to be displayed in the Procedure Readings area on a work order.

In the Data Reading Label field, enter a value to indicate the type of data reading that is needed, for example, Volts.

In the Instructions field, enter a set of instructions for completing this sub procedure.

To add ranges to the sub procedure, follow these steps:

Select the Ranges tab.

Click the Add New Range button.
The Add New range dialog box appears.

In the Minimum value field, enter a numeric value and then select the greater than (>) or greater than or equal to (>=) option.
This value can be blank.

In the Maximum value field, enter a numeric value and then select the less than (<) or less than or equal to (<=) option.
This value can be blank.
You can choose to fill in both the Minimum Value and the Maximum Values for a sub procedure range, or you can leave one or the other empty. These combinations are defined as the following range types:

Closed Range = Minimum Value and Maximum Value are both defined.

Open Max = Minimum Value is defined, and Maximum Value is undefined.

Open Min = Minimum Value is undefined, and Maximum Value is defined.

In the Message field, enter a message to be displayed if a data reading exceeds the designated range, for example "This value is outside of the acceptable range."

Clear the Value can be saved check box if you want to prevent saving when a value is in the defined range.
By default, this check box is selected.

Click OK to save the range or click Another to save this range and define another.
The ranges you have added are displayed in the grid. Once you have entered ranges, you can edit or delete an item.

Click Save to save the sub procedure or click Another to save the sub procedure and add another.
