About the Dynamic Values Functionality

When you add certain resource, assignment, or user ID fields to a data source as a filter field, you have the option to select dynamic values for the filter. When you choose a dynamic value for a filter field, the value for the filter is different depending on who is using the data source. Dynamic values can be applied to filter fields on data sources for the Work Orders or Assets modules.

This functionality is only available on non-View data sources without a Saved Query.

Some dynamic values that can be selected are:

  • My Resource = the resource tied to the logged-in user

  • My Resource Number = the Resource Number for the resource tied to the logged-in user

  • My TMS Full Username = the Display Name of the logged-in user

  • My TMS Username = the User Name of the logged-in user

Examples of fields to which dynamic values can be applied:

  • IDResource

  • Requester Resource Number

  • TMSUserxUserIdent

To put this all together, you can create a Work Orders module data source with IDResource used as a filter field and then set the filter as My Resource. When you are logged in, and you run the data source, you are shown work orders where only your resource is tied to the work order. If another user logs in and runs the data source, they are shown work orders where only their resource is tied to the work order.

See the How to Apply a Dynamic Value to a Data Source for a walkthrough of this feature.
