Meridian Power and Portal Integration

Document Controllers, Project Owners, and Tenant Administrators can send project copies stored in Meridian Power to business partners who don't have access to the vault, using a simplified workflow. Business partners can also upload documents for revision. Once the revision process is complete, the documents are imported back to Meridian Power.

Document purposes

Send documents for these purposes using the Meridian Portal integration:

  • For revision: Send documents under change to Contractors for revision. Contractors can update the documents directly in Portal.

  • For routing: Send documents under change to Document Controllers, Project Owners, and Contributors, who can then distribute the documents for review or approval.

  • For information:Send unchanged or released documents to Contractors for informational purposes only. These documents are read-only in Portal.

  • As released: Send unchanged or released documents to Document Controllers, Project Owners, and Contributors for informational purposes only. These documents are read-only in Portal.

Exchange process

The documents are exchanged via package export. You can exchange editable and non-editable documents:

  • Editable documents: Under change documents that are locked with the status Locked in export package in Meridian Power, and remain locked until they are returned from Meridian Portal.

  • Non-editable documents: Unchanged or released documents that remain unlocked in Meridian Power after you send them to Meridian Portal.

You can also include CAD references. In addition to the selected documents, the package also includes an automatically generated transmittal sheet (Microsoft Excel workbook). If the package exchange fails, you can unlock documents from the package.

Document numbering and revision number

When you send documents from Meridian Power to Meridian Portal, the system updates the revision number in Power to match that in the Portal, and the document status in the Portal is locked as In Meridian.

If the document you sent already exists in the Meridian Portal project, the document is added as a new revision.

Once revisions are approved in the Meridian Portal, the documents are automatically imported back into the vault. Once imported back into Meridian Power, documents are subject to the Field-Path definition of the vault's configuration, which might place them in different folders than their original locations.

CAD references

Select Include CAD references to include CAD references when sending documents to Meridian Portal. Using this method, the AutoCAD and MicroStation references are directly copied from the Master document and references for information don't need to be copied to a project. If reference documents need to be updated by the Contractor, create a project copy for the reference documents.

When you send a document with CAD references, editable references are sent for revision, while non-editable references are sent for information. If the project copy includes CAD references to documents outside the project, those referenced documents are included in the package for information.

Sending a document with CAD references only includes MicroStation and AutoCAD references. It does not apply to other CAD references, manual references, or asset references.
