Chart widgets

You can use chart widgets to create custom charts that appear on your Dashboard. These charts contain system data and are configurable to your needs. When you add a Chart widget to your Dashboard, a Setup Wizard for the chart automatically opens.

You can resize a dashboard widget to get a better view of your data.

If you close a Chart widget, the system does not retain its configuration. To see the information again, you need to rebuild the chart.

Information displayed in your widgets is not continuously updated. The information is updated every time the Dashboard is opened. Click Refresh to refresh the information.

Chart-Bar By Year

Although this widget is titled Chart-Bar By Year, you can also create quarterly and monthly bar charts using the widget.

  1. Add the Chart-Bar By Year widget to your Dashboard.

    A Setup Wizard window opens.

  2. Enter the Chart Title.

  3. Select the check boxes of the entity types want to include.

  4. In Date Field, select a date you want to report on from the field.

    After you select a date, another Date Field is displayed. Continue to select dates until you have chosen all dates you want to include in the chart.

  5. For each Date Field click the gray square to the right of the field then select a color from the Color Palette that opens.

    This specifies the bar colors for each date.

  6. Select a Scale of Yearly, Quarterly, or Monthly.

  7. Select the Filter By Year and other Filters you want.

    These filters allow you to narrow the data returned in the chart.

  8. Select the Portfolio / Programs to include.

    Press and hold CTRL on your keyboard to select multiple values.

  9. Click Submit.

    The Setup Wizard closes. The chart opens in the Chart-Bar By Year widget. When you hover your cursor over a bar in your widget, a small window appears that contains the data represented in the bar.

  10. If you want to adjust the settings of your chart, click Configure.

    The Setup Wizard re-opens.

Chart-Line

  1. Add the Chart-Line widget to your Dashboard.

    A Setup Wizard window opens.

  2. Enter a title for the chart in the Chart Title field.

  3. Select the check boxes next to the entity types whose data you want to use in the chart.

  4. Select the start year for the line chart from the Start Year field.

  5. Select the end year for the line chart from the End Year field.

  6. Select the Average or the Total option to choose whether you want the average value or the total value of the data in the line chart.

  7. In Line Field, select a field you want to report on.

    After you select a field, a new Line Field appears. Continue to select fields until you have chosen all fields you want to include in the chart.

  8. For each Line Field click the gray square to the right of the field then select a color from the Color Palette that opens.

    This specifies the colors for each line.

  9. Select a Scale of Yearly, Quarterly, or Monthly.

  10. Select the Filter By Year and other Filters you want.

    These filters allow you to narrow the data returned in the chart.

  11. Select the Portfolio / Programs to include.

  12. Click Submit.

    The Setup Wizard closes. The chart opens in the Chart-Line widget. When you hover your cursor over a data point in your line chart, a small window appears that contains the data represented by the data point.

  13. If you want to adjust the settings of your chart, click Configure.

    The Setup Wizard re-opens.

Chart Milestone

In the Chart Milestone widget, you can create a bar chart of your active sites / projects by milestone phase.
  1. Add the Chart Milestone widget to your Dashboard.

    A Setup Wizard window opens.

  2. Complete the fields:

    • Chart Title: Enter a title for the chart.

    • Start Date: Enter the start date you want to use for the chart.

      You can also click Calendar A small button with a picture of a calendar on it. to open the Date Picker and select the appropriate date.

    • End Date: Enter the end date you want to use for the chart in the field.

      You can also click Calendar A small button with a picture of a calendar on it. to open the Date Picker and select the appropriate date.

    • Portfolio Filter: Select the portfolio you want this widget to pull data from.

      All Portfolios / Capital Programs is selected by default. You can select multiple options.

    • Entity Filter

      • Sites: Limit the results in this widget to sites.

      • Projects: Limit the results in this widget to projects.

  3. Click Submit.

    The Setup Wizard closes. The chart opens in the Chart Milestone widget. When you hover over a bar in the widget, a label displays the data represented in the bar.

  4. Click Configure if you want to adjust chart settings.

    The Setup Wizard re-opens.

Chart-Pie

You can create a pie chart using the Chart-Pie widget. When you hover over a section of your pie chart, the data represented in that pie segment is shown.

  1. Add the Chart-Pie widget to your Dashboard.

    A Setup Wizard window opens.

  2. Enter a title for the chart in the Chart Title field.

  3. Select the check boxes next to the entity types whose data you want to use in the chart.

  4. Select the data you want to view in your pie chart from the Drop Down Field field.

  5. Click the gray square to the right of each option in the Choose Colors section.

    A color palette opens.

  6. Select a color from the Color Palette.

    This is the color this section of your pie will have.

  7. Select either the Yearly, Quarterly, or Monthly option to configure the scale of the chart.

  8. Select the appropriate filters from the Filter By Year and the Filters sections.

    These filters allow you to narrow the data returned in the chart.

  9. Select the portfolios you want the chart to pull from the Portfolio / Program field.

    Press and hold CTRL on your keyboard to select multiple values.

  10. Click Submit.

    The Setup Wizard closes. The chart opens in the Chart-Pie widget. When you hover your cursor over a section of your pie chart, a small window appears that contains the data represented in the pie segment.

  11. If you want to adjust the settings of your chart, click Configure.

    The Setup Wizard re-opens.

Print a Chart from a Chart Widget

  1. Find the Chart widget on your Dashboard.

  2. Click Print.

    The Page Options window opens.

  3. Select the paper size from the Paper Size field.

  4. Select the page orientation from the Orientation field.

  5. Click OK.

    The system generates a PDF of the chart.

  6. Do one of the following:

    • Open the file in a PDF editing software.

    • Save the file to your computer.
