Update Assets

If you have the asset number, you can access an asset's details, which provides quick access to view or update asset information. Perform a manual search for the asset or scan the asset's ID or QR code.

Once you locate and view an asset, you can make updates and create a new work order for it.

Update assets from the Assets > Update menu.

Manual asset search

When you search for an asset through the Update menu, you might find multiple assets with the same number. Different segments, which are distinct sections of your TMS database designated for specific data records, might use the same asset number. Asset numbers must be unique within the same segment.

  1. Go to Asset > Update.

  2. In Asset number, enter the asset number you want to find, then press Enter.

    The results page displays a list of matching assets if they exist. If a single asset is found, the update page for that specific asset displays.

  3. Select Update from the Actions menu in a list of matching assets to view that particular asset.

    The Update asset page opens.

Scan asset

Scan the barcode or QR code to view the asset. The asset details automatically populate, eliminating the need to manually enter the asset number. We support various barcode types on Android Chrome and iOS Safari.

Your device must be capable of scanning a QR code and the asset must have a barcode or QR code.

  1. Click Scan.

    If a confirmation message displays, click Allow. The photo scan option opens.

  2. Point your device's camera at the barcode or QR code.

  3. The camera scans the code automatically.

    The Update asset page opens with the asset details filled in.

Update asset

You can update existing asset records and save the changes to the Classic TMS database to maintain accurate and current asset data.

  1. On the Asset update page, make changes to any asset fields.

  2. Click Update.

    The asset changes are saved.

If multiple assets appear in the results, select Update from the Actions menu to view the details of a specific asset.

  1. Do one of the following:

    • In list view, select Update from the Actions menu on the left of a row.

    • In card view, select Update from the Actions menu in the upper right of the card.

    The Update page for the selected item displays.

If you are in card view, click a card. The Update page for the selected item displays.

Create work order

Using any of the aforementioned methods to access an asset's details, you can then create a work order for the asset. The asset number and related fields auto-populate on the work order.

  1. On the asset page, click Create work order.

    The New work order page opens with asset details filled in.

  2. Enter other details for the work order.

  3. Click Create.
