Emission Reduction Projects
In addition to tracking the emissions that your organization emits, the Verisae application also allows you to track the projects that your organization implements to save emissions. To find past and existing events, please navigate to Energy > Emission Reduction Projects
This table displays the basic information about the project, including the name and type of the project, and the dates it applies to. Clicking on the project name will take you to a detailed page describing the project.
Within the emission reduction project detail, you can view a detailed description of the project, the project manager and verification authority, if applicable, the unit of measure that the project is tracking, and finally the total cost, savings in whatever unit of measure was previously defined, and the total incurred CO2 of the project. Similar to composting or recycling initiatives tracked under the material usage sub-tab, the incurred CO2 that is listed in an emission reduction project is actually counted as emissions saved, and therefore does not add to your total carbon footprint.
Once you define the project parameters (see Entering a new emission reduction project below), you have the opportunity to associate sites to that project. If the project is tracking an initiative at a specific site, you may choose only that site; however, the application can track many locations if the project has a wider scope. Once you create a site, you will be required to choose the utility organization associated with that site; doing so enables the application to calculate the emissions specific to that location and utility type. You may enter the details of the cost and energy savings once these two preliminary steps have been completed. The values you enter per site will total in the Total Cost, Total Savings, and Total Incurred mT CO2e fields on the left side of the page.
Finally, if there are any documents, such as product specifications, invoices, or spreadsheets that are relevant to the project, you may attach them under the portion titled Project Files. Simply click on + to upload files from your computer.
Entering a new emission reduction project
To create a new emission reduction project, navigate to Energy > Emission Reduction Projects > New
There are several project type options in the dropdown list; these include HVAC, lighting, water, or energy projects. Select the type that is most applicable to your project and assign a name to it, along with a description, the start and end dates of the project, and whether it is currently active or not.
Depending on which type of project you select, additional fields will appear that are required in order to save the project. You may be asked to fill in the utility type associated to the project (essential to calculating the emissions), and/or the project manager and verification authority for your project. Please do so before continuing on.
After saving the project, you will be returned to the main emission reduction project smart table. Click on the project to indicate the unit of measure which applies to the project, associate any sites, and upload any applicable files.
