Customize User Defined Field Labels
User Defined Fields (also referred to as UDFs) are specific to each module, and in some cases, can be associated with another code that is chosen on the form, such as Type. In the steps below, we will walk you through customizing a user defined field label for the Work Orders module.
The procedure for modifying a UDF label is similar for every module, with the only difference being the code types that are available.
-
Go to Setup > Work Orders > User Defined Fields. (You would select a different module after Setup, if you are customizing another module's UDF labels.)
-
In the User Defined Field Setup window, you see the Module, Segment, and Type fields at the top of the dialog box. Click in one of the 10 UDF's text field.
-
Enter your label for the selected field.
-
By default, the Type field (or other field drop-down menu, depending on the module) is blank. If you leave it blank while configuring a user defined field's label, the label you entered won't be associated with a specific Type code. To tie the label to a Type code, select the code from the drop-down menu.
-
Repeat the steps above for as many of the user defined fields that you want to customize their labels.
-
Click Apply when you are done.
