Create/Edit Work Order Codes
TMS comes with many default code choices for drop-down menus. For example, one Work Order Type Code is CM, or Corrective Maintenance. You can define additional choices that appear in the drop-down menus from the Work Orders Code Setup screen.
To find an existing code quickly, use the Search box. Select a code type from the Code List and then type a code, description, or part of either into the Search box at the top of the code grid. (Wildcard criteria is supported with an * before, after, or around the criteria.)
Create Type Codes
To create Type Codes, follow these steps:
- From the Setup menu, go to Work Orders > Codes.
- In the Code List, select Type Codes. TMS displays existing work order Type Codes.
-
Click New.
-
In the Code Setup box, type in your new Code.
- Type in your Description of the new code.
-
Check the Escalate box if you want this code to escalate the work order's priority after 30 days.
- Check the Show in New/Edit and Show in Query boxes if you want to have your new codes visible in the Work Order New and Work Order Query screens. If you don't want your new code visible for use immediately, you can clear both Show check boxes.
-
Click Save or Another to add another code.
The procedure to create other Work Order module codes is the same as the procedure for Type codes, except for step 6, which applies only to Type codes. When creating Sub Status codes, you must select a Status code to associate the new code with. Completion Comment codes and Description codes (described below) require only that you enter a text into the Description field that is provided.
Completion Comments
You can predefine a list of work order completion comments here. Work order completion comments are located on the Complete tab on the Work Order Edit screen.
Follow the same procedures as above, except in step 2, select Completion Comments from the Codes List.
Work Order Descriptions
You can predefine a list of work order descriptions here. The Description field is located on Main tab of the New, Edit, and Query screens in the Work Order module.
Follow the same procedures as above, except in step 2, select Description from the Codes List.
