Customize User Defined Fields

User Defined Fields (UDFs) are specific for each module, and in some cases, can be associated with another code that is chosen on the form, such as Type.

The procedure for modifying a UDF label is similar for every module, with the only difference being the code types that are available.

To customize a user defined field label for the Utilities module, follow these steps:

  1. From the Setup menu, select Utilities > User Defined Fields.

The User Defined Fields Setup window opens, displaying the Module, Segment, and Type drop-down menus across the top of the dialog box. By default, the Type is unspecified.

  2. If you want to associate a label with a specific type code, select a value from the Type drop-down menu.

If you leave the type blank while configuring a UDF label, the label you enter will not be associated with a specific type code.

  3. Click in one of the UDF text fields.

  4. Enter a label for the selected field.

  5. Repeat the steps above for as many of the user defined fields that you want to customize their labels.

  6. Click Apply when you are finished.
