Create New Group

The first step to setting up security for TMS is to create user groups. To do so, follow these steps.

  1. Setup > Security > Users/Groups.

  2. Under Groups, click New.

    The little paper icon in the Groups section is the New button.

  3. Enter a Group Code in the first field (ex. "BIO" for Biomed Users).

  4. Enter a Description for the group (for example, Biomed Users).

  5. Select the segment to which this group will have default access from the Default Segment list.

  6. To add segment permissions for this group, select the segments from the segment tree under Segment Permissions. This tree is a duplicate of the segment tree in Segment Setup (Setup > General > Segment Setup).

  7. Click Save in the Group Setup window or click Another to add an additional group.

You cannot add group access to a user segment without giving the group permissions to the segment's parent segment as well. Additionally, you cannot remove the group's permissions to a common segment that is also a parent segment without removing the group's permissions to the user segment, too.

Edit and Delete Groups

  • Click the Edit button to edit an existing group.

  • Use the Delete button to delete an existing group.
