Key Differences Between Automatic and Manual Schedule Generation
Schedule generation allows PM, PE, and/or Inspection schedules need to be generated into work orders for technicians to complete. Schedules can be generated on a regular basis, such as at the end or beginning of a month so that they're ready for the upcoming month, or can be generated on an on-demand basis, such as when a new piece of equipment arrives and needs to be inspected prior to being put into use.
There are two types of generation:
Automatic Schedule Generation
Automatic schedule generation is configured in the Setup module, and it is generally a set-it-and-forget-it function. You select the generation frequency, what report to use to find the schedules you want to automatically generate, and where you want the work orders to print out. Then, you let TMS do the rest.
For more information, see Set Up Automatic Schedule Generation.
Manual Schedule Generation
Manual schedule generation is a more hands-on function than automatic schedule generation. It requires you to manually search for and select which schedules you want to generate. This makes it ideal for on-demand generation, which you might use for an incoming equipment inspection. Manual schedule generation also allows for Random generation; automatic schedule generation does not.
