About Random Generation

When the Enable Random Generation option on the Manual Schedule Generation page is selected, TMS will randomly generate the schedules returned by your query, based on the criteria you input.

The following example illustrates how random schedule generation could be used.

Consider a hospital that has a Building Maintenance Program (BMP) and 1500 doors in the hospital, each of which is an asset in TMS. According to the BMP, the hospital staff must inspect 350 doors each month. Here is how the hospital would use random PM generation to perform these inspections.

  1. First, they would locate the asset records for the 1500 doors using the Lookup button next to the Asset Number field.
  2. Next, they would enter 350 in the Number of Records to Generate field. The Percent to Generate field will automatically update. (Or, they could enter a percentage of the schedules to generate in the Percent to Generate field.)
  3. Finally, they would click Generate. TMS would randomly generate any 350 of the 1500 door asset records.
