The Resource Time Charges Page

Select either optional field Work Order or Asset. You can select a Procedure number if it is assigned to the work order you select here. If you charge the time to a work order, enter the work order number or use the Lookup button to query for the work order. If the work order has an asset attached to it, the Asset field is automatically filled in with that asset number. If the work order doesn't have an asset attached to it, then the Asset field will be unavailable. In this case, the work order is updated with the time charge, and the asset is updated with the time charge. For the asset, the time charge is added to the Cost To Date value.

If you are charging the time to just an asset instead, enter the asset number or use the Lookup button to query for the asset. In the Cost Center field, select a Cost Center. You would select a Cost Center when the Account Code is not the area that is being charged.

You can have your time charge comments automatically transferred to the WO Completion Comments. From the Setup menu, select Resources > Time Charge Options. In the Time Charge area, select the check box next to Save Comments to WO Completion Comments.

You can charge time to a contract (and potentially a contract term) which will help you analyze the cost of contracts. Enter the Contract number or use the Lookup button ( ... ) to query for the contract number. The following fields are associated with charging time to a contract:

  • Contract Term – This is the TMS system code Contract Terms Type Lab - Labor that is associated with the contract and defined in the Setup Menu (Setup > Contracts > Codes). Examples of Labor Contract Terms Types include Fixed Rate Discount, Fixed Rate Markup, Flat Discount, Flat Fee, Percentage Rate Discount, and Percentage Rate Markup. Only a Labor Term Type can be applied to a time charge, and that Labor Term Type has to be attached to the contract you entered in the Contract field.

  • Term Value – This is the term value that is attached to the Labor term that is attached to the contract. For example, let's say that you are charging time to contract #12345. Contract #12345 has a Labor Term of Fixed Rate Discount for $10.00 attached to it. When you select the Contract Term Fixed rate Discount, the Term Value is $10.00. This affects the Contract Adjusted Cost.

  • Contract Adjusted Cost – This cost field is calculated based upon the markup or discount as defined on the contract term selected for the individual charge (in our example, the contract term is a Fixed Rate Discount for $10.00). We'll continue with our example. Let's say we are charging time for resource William Shakespeare. William's charge rate (according to his record in the Resources Module) is $18.75. William charges eight (8) hours towards contract #12345. The Contract Adjusted Cost is $70.00.

    8 hours * $18.75 (William's hourly rate) = $150.00 - $80.00 (Fixed Rate Discount of $10.00) = $70.00 (the Contract Adjusted Cost).

If the time charge is associated with an asset, only the contracts attached to that asset will be available using the Lookup. If the time charge is not associated with an asset, than you can charge time to any contract.
