Segment ID "0" is reserved for the system segment.
All users and groups have access to the System Segment.
Only System codes, alerts, forms and reports should be kept in the System Segment.
The System Segment will only appear in drop-down menus in these modules:
Reporting (query/edit)
Codes
Forms
(The System Segment is not shown in Alerts because System Alerts are turned on and off at the Segment level.)
Users can still modify System code descriptions, show in edit/query as they do today.
Users cannot modify system alerts, forms or reports, only duplicate.
Work Orders, Schedules, and Web Requests cannot be created in Common Segments.
Common Segments are only linked to User Segments under Segment setup, not within User Group setup.
User Segments are still mapped to User Groups under User Group setup.
Record identifiers (Asset #, Resource #) and codes when defined at a Common Segment level must be unique in that Common Segment, any parent common segments, and the System Segment.
Record identifiers (Asset #, Resource #) and codes when defined at a User Segment level must be unique in all of the Common Segments and the System Segment above.
When making a Common Segment the parent of a User Segment, the system must authenticate that no records or codes exist in that User Segment, other Common Segments above the User Segment or the System Segment.
A Common Segment cannot be disassociated from a User Segment if there is data in the User Segment which is in that Common Segment or any of its parents.
When removing a segment, that segment cannot be in use within the database.
All segments can see the codes and other items stored in the System Segment.
A User Segment cannot have any children.
The System Segment does not have a parent. Every other segment has one and only one parent.
