How to Build an Advanced Query

When you want to build a query that includes multiple values on one field, a date range within one field, or other advanced criteria choices, you want to build an advanced query to pull the advanced criteria into your search.

To build an advanced query, follow these steps:

  1. Go into a module's Query mode (Assets > Query).

  2. On the Query screen, select the Advanced Query button next to the field on which you want to use advanced criteria (for example, Category).

  3. In the Advanced Query pop-up window, select the Operator drop-down menu and then a built-in function (for example, Equal To) or a dynamic value (for example, My Resource).

  4. In the Value drop-down menu or field, select or enter a value (for example, AIR COMPRESSOR).

  5. Click the Add New Criteria button to add the first piece of criteria to the Criteria list.

  6. Next, choose And or Or from the Condition drop-down menu.

  7. If you want a different Operator than the one selected in step 3, select a new operator from the drop-down menu.

  8. In the Value drop-down menu or field, select or enter a value (for example, AIR HANDLER UNIT).

  9. Click the Add New Criteria button to add the second piece of criteria to the Criteria list.

  10. Repeat steps 6 - 9 as many times as you need if you want to add more criteria to your advanced query.

  11. When you're done adding criteria, click OK.

If you forget to click the Add New Criteria button before clicking OK, TMS will ask you if you want to save the criteria before exiting. Click Yes to add the criteria or No to close the Advanced Query window without the additional criteria.

Once you click OK, you will see {AQ} in the field that has advanced criteria applied to it.

If you want to edit your criteria, select the Advanced Query button next to the field again. Click Edit to modify the criteria or Delete to remove a piece of criteria, and then click OK to re-save the advanced query.
