Use the Wizard

The Code Find and Replace wizard allows you to replace references to a code in TMS records with an altogether different code. You can also use this wizard to move codes from one segment to another. Follow these steps.

1. Tools > Data Maintenance > Code Find and Replace.

2. Click Next on the Welcome screen.

3. Select the Module in which TMS should search for codes.

4. Select the module's Code List that the code resides in.

5. A grid displays all available codes in the selected module and list. Select a code/codes to replace. (Hold CTRL to select multiple codes.)

6. Click Next.

7. On the Replacement Options screen, you first have two option buttons to choose from. What you select dictates your next steps.

   • Existing Code (current code) - Merges the code/codes into an existing code.

     1. Select the Existing Code option button.

     2. Select a code from the grid with which to replace the selected code or codes.

   • Existing Code (new code) - Merges the code/codes into a new code you create.

     1. Select the Existing Code option button.

     2. Select a segment from the New Code Segment drop-down menu.

     3. Click the New Code button next to the drop-down menu.

     4. Fill in the fields in the Code Setup dialog that appears.

     5. Select the new code in the grid.

   • Move Code - Moves the code/codes you selected in the previous screen to the new segment you select.

   1. Select the Move Selected Code option button.

   2. Select a new segment from the drop-down menu.

   3. Select a row in the List grid.

8. Click Next.

9. The Validation screen shows an overview of the changes that will be made. Review this screen and then click Next.

10. When the process is complete, you are shown a summary of the changes that were made. Click Finish to close the wizard.
