Notes About User Defined Fields (UDFs)

  • User defined fields are always a textbox and cannot be used in a hierarchical fashion.

  • All user defined field labels are segment-specific. If you set a UDF label for a common segment, the label does not filter down to the user segments under the common segment.

  • If a UDF label is applied to a user segment, the label applies only to the user segment for which it was created. To apply the same label to multiple child segments, you need to re-enter the UDF label for each additional segment.

  • If you associate a code with a UDF label (for example, Type codes), you only see that label when the associated code is selected. Otherwise, you will see the non-code specific label (this is "UDF" + the field number, or a customized label, if a non-code specific label was created).

  • The default UDF label ("UDF" + the field number, or a customized label) displays until a code that is tied to a different label is selected.
