Edit a Calculated Custom Field and Variables

If needed, you can modify a calculated custom field, including the field's variables. To edit a calculated custom field, follow these steps:

1. From the Setup menu, select General > Custom Fields.

   The Custom Fields page opens.

2. In the Custom Fields area, click the Edit icon preceding the custom field you want to edit.

   The Edit Custom Field window opens.

3. Modify one or more of the following values:

   • Field Name (cannot have spaces)

   • Description
   • Module
   • Formula

4. If you want to edit the edit the field's variables, follow these steps:

   1. Click the Edit button next to the variable in the Variables grid.

      The Edit Formula Variable dialog box appears.

   2. Modify any of the following values:

      • Variable Name
      • Variable Type
      • Field

   3. Click OK.

5. When you are done editing the calculated custom field, click OK.

You can also delete a calculated custom field in the Custom Fields grid by clicking the Delete button next to the field you want to delete. However, the field cannot be removed if it is in use on any record.
