Apply a Calculated Custom Field to a Form

To use the calculated custom field that you have created, you need to place it onto a form.

Add the Calculated Custom Field

To apply a calculated custom field to a form, follow these steps:

  1. From the Setup menu, select Custom Forms > Edit and then select the module and form.

    The Form Designer window opens.

  2. Click the tab on which you want to add the calculated custom field or add a new tab by clicking New Tab.

  3. In the Groups/Fields area, expand Custom Fields.

  4. Drag and drop the calculated custom field onto the tab.

You will also need to add the fields that are variables for the calculated custom field, if they are not already on the form.

  5. Click Save.

The calculated custom field and the corresponding fields are now added to the custom form

View the Calculated Custom Field

To view the calculated custom field on the form, follow these steps:

  1. Select the module for the custom form where you added the calculated custom field.

For example, if you added a calculated custom field to a custom form for the Work Orders module, open a work order in Edit mode or Query for a work order.

  2. If the form is not already the default form for the module, select the custom form from the Form drop-down menu.

  3. Enter values into the necessary fields and the calculated custom field will update.

When values are applied to the fields that act as the formula's variables, the calculated custom field's value updates in real-time.
