Strategy to Create Custom Forms
Before you start creating custom forms, you should think through the business processes of your organization or department. TMS can be customized to the exact needs of an organization, segment, and even a specific user. Write down the fields that you use the most often. Think about information that needs to be required in order to submit a work order.
Knowing your work flow is important! Consider these questions:
-
How does your organization accept new work orders?
-
How does your organization close PM work orders?
- Are you new to TMS and used to another CMMS system? If so, you can use the form designer to duplicate the work flow of your prior CMMS system if you want to.
The following is a recommended strategy for creating custom forms in the TMS form designer:
-
Review the standard forms included with TMS, for example: Work Order (TMS Enterprise), Work Order (Multiple Assets), and Assets Master (TMS Enterprise). You might want to base your new form on an existing standard form
-
Create a new custom form from scratch or duplicate an existing standard form and modify it to suit your needs
-
Add tabs to the custom form
-
Add group boxes to the tabs
-
Add fields, grids, and other items to the tabs
-
Set security for the forms
-
Change fonts
-
Make certain fields required
-
Hide certain fields
-
Set default values
