Set Form Security from Form Permissions

Another method for setting form security is using the Form Manager page. This page allows you to set permissions for standard system forms, as well as custom, user-created forms. However, only users that are part of the System Users user group have access to this page.

To set security permissions, follow these steps:

  1. From the Setup menu, select Form Manager.

  2. From the Segment drop-down menu, select the segment containing the form.

All standard forms exist in the System Segment.

  3. From the Module drop-down menu, select the module in which the form exists.

All available forms appear in the Forms list.

  4. Click the Edit button next to the form where you want to modify the permissions.

    The Permissions dialog box opens.

  5. Click Add.

The Add Permissions Identity dialog box appears.

  6. Select a user or user group.

  7. Click Apply.

The selected user or group appears in the Group or user names list.

If the form's owner (creator) doesn't already have permissions he is also added. This set of permissions cannot be adjusted.

Once you add a user or user group to the permissions list, all other users and groups (other than the form's owner) are restricted from using the form. If you want everyone except a specific user/group to be able to use and/or modify the form, you need to add all other groups to the permissions list and grant them the appropriate permissions.

  8. Select the user/group you just added to the list.

  9. Specify the appropriate permissions by selecting the Allow or Deny check boxes.

    • Use – the selected user/group can use the form to create, query, or edit records

    • Modify – the selected user/group can change elements of the form

By default, Use and Modify permissions are marked as Allow for the user/group you added. You can disable these permissions.

  10. Repeat these steps for all users and groups that you want to add permissions to.

  11. Click Apply.
