Create a Form for CAFM Assets

If your organization also has a license for TMS CAFM, you likely have assets that are linked to both the TMS CMMS and to TMS CAFM. You can create a form on which you can view the asset's information in combination with the drawing to which it is linked.

To create a form for CAFM assets, follow these steps:

  1. From the Setup menu, select Custom Forms > New.

The New Form dialog box opens.

  2. From the Module menu, select Assets.

  3. Enter a name for the form.

  4. (Optional) To base the form on an existing form, select a value from the Based On drop-down menu.

  5. Click Continue.

  6. Click OK.

The new form is displayed on the Form Designer page.

  7. Click New Tab.

  8. In the Tab Name field enter a name for the tab.

For example, since you are creating a tab for a drawing, you could name it CAFM Drawing.

  9. Select a tab layout

For best viewing of a drawing, select Full Tab Layout.

  10. In the Show in Mode area, select the Edit Mode check box.

The new tab won't show in Create or Query modes.

  11. Click Add Tab.

  12. Select the new tab.

  13. In the pane on the right, expand Other Items.

  14. Drag and drop the CAFM Drawing element on the new tab.

  15. Place it where you want it to appear on the tab.

  16. Click Save.

  17. Click OK.

Once the CAFM Drawing element is added, the control group's caption will be Asset Location. This caption, plus the font properties and custom help can be modified as necessary.

If a drawing is associated an asset, it is displayed on the tab where the CAFM Drawing element was added. The drawing is centered on the area of the drawing where the asset is located. The Drawing Data and Layers panel is available next to the drawing, as they are in the TMS CAFM Portal add-on module. If no drawing is associated with the asset, “No drawing for this asset” is displayed in the viewer.
