The Databases Tab
When you open TMS Control Panel, the Database Connections window appears. Since the General Settings are database dependent, the General Settings option is unavailable if the database is not configured. You can configure multiple databases using TMS Control Panel.
To configure databases, follow these steps:
-
On the TMS Control Panel, click the Databases tab.
The Database Connections appear.
-
Click the Add Database button.
The Add New Database window opens.
-
Enter values in the Server, Database, Username, and Password fields.
The username and password are your TMS username and password. These are different from the SQL username and password you used to install TMS. This username and password must have access to all segments.
Follow these best practices when adding a database to Control Panel:
- Always use a TMS username and password in the Add New Database dialog box. Do not use an Active Directory login.
- If you are utilizing TMS Strong Password Options, the username used to add databases to Control Panel should have a password that never expires. To configure the username's password, select Setup > Security > Users/Groups, click the Edit button next to the User ID field, and select the Password never expires check box under Password Management.
-
Click OK.
Your database is visible in the Server Information list.
You can add multiple databases. Once the database is added, you can:
- Click the Remove button below the list to remove a database in the list
-
Click the Edit button below the list to edit a database in the list.
If you change the password that was used to create a database connection, then you need to update the TMS Control Panel too. To do this, click the Stop button, select your database connection, click the Edit button, and update your information. Remember to restart the TMS Control Panel
