Introduction to Project Management
Listed below are instructions to use TMS to manage projects. There are three parts to this process:
-
Setting up TMS to manage projects.
-
Using TMS to manage projects.
-
Reporting on projects.
We assume that you have a working knowledge of TMS. While we do provide general instructions on how to manage projects in TMS, we expect that you are familiar with how to set up codes, work orders, child work orders, custom forms, custom fields, and reporting.
Before You Begin
Before you can begin to use TMS to manage projects you need at least these two items:
-
TMS Project Summary Report – This is an Advanced Report, provided by Four Rivers, that lists open “project” work orders based upon the codes that you define in the steps below.
-
Capital Projects Custom Work Order Form – This is a custom form created for the Work Orders Module, provided by Four Rivers, that you will use to create, edit, and query for your “project” work orders. A suitable custom Work Order form, created by you, will also suffice. You need to have a form to place your custom forms on.
