Asset Materials

If the Assets module form you're using has the Materials grid on it, you can associate materials with an asset - be they parts, tools, or items. Doing so allows you to pass the material list to any PM schedules tied to the asset.

To associate materials with an asset, follow these steps:

  1. Create and save a new asset, or open an existing asset record.

  2. If you are not already using it, select the form that contains the Materials grid from the Form drop-down menu.

  3. Select the tab that contains the Materials grid (the tab itself might be called "Materials").

  4. In the Materials grid area, click the New button.

  5. The Asset Material pop-up window opens. In the Material field, enter a known Item Number, or click the Lookup button and search for it.

  6. Enter the Quantity of the material that this asset needs. (This can be changed on the asset record or work order material issue later.)

  7. Click Save to add this material, or Another to add this material and start another.

Once you've tied one or more materials to this asset record, the material/materials will be passed to any PM schedules created for it.
