Asset Group Create
You can use Asset Groups to collect multiple assets and then treat them as a group. Using Asset Groups makes it easy to add multiple assets in one step to a work order or PM schedule.
For example, you might have 15 refrigerators on the same PM schedule that require the same procedures to be completed. You could create an Asset Group called "Refrigerator Units" and assign the individual assets (refrigerators) to the Refrigerator Unit group. Then, you could assign the Refrigerator Unit group to a PM Schedule.
The benefit is that instead of generating 15 PM work orders (one for every refrigerator), TMS generates one PM work order. Thus, only one work order needs to be completed or closed in TMS.
If your organization would rather have separate PM work orders for the individual assets, then don't create Asset Groups.
Before you create an Asset Group, the asset you want to be part of the group must exist in the TMS database. You might want to perform an asset query to verify that the asset exists in the TMS database.
To create an asset group, follow these steps:
-
From the Assets menu, click Asset Group.
-
Click New. The Asset Group pop-up window opens.
- In the Asset Group pop-up window, type in the Group Name and Description.
- Click OK. Notice that your new asset group is added to the Query Results in the List tab.
- Double-click your new asset group. The Main, WO History, and PM Info tabs open. Make sure that the Main tab is selected.
-
Under the Asset area, click New. The Asset Query screen opens.
-
Enter your search criteria and click Execute.
- In the Lookup Results in the List tab, select the asset or assets you want to add to the asset group.
-
Click the Add Selected Records button.
- Click Save. Your selected assets are added to your new asset group.
