Add or Update Time Charges

In the Work Order Edit screen, you can add a new time charge or update an existing one.

Add a Manual Time Charge

To add a new time charge to a work order, follow these steps.

  1. Open a work order in Work Order Edit.

  2. Select the Charges tab (or other tab with the Time Charges grid, if using a custom form).

  3. Select the Add button (+) next to the Time Charges label.

  4. Select the Hours Type field and then a type from the list.

  5. The Date field defaults to the current date. To change the date, select the Date field and then the correct date.

  6. Select the Hours field and then enter the number of hours to charge. Partial hours should be entered in decimal form.

  7. Select the Billable field and then specify whether the work order time is billable by selecting Yes or No.

  8. The Account field defaults to the account specified for the work order. To change it for this time charge, select the Account field and then select another account from the list.

  9. Select the Cost field and then enter a cost for this time charge.

  10. Scroll down to the Comments and Charge To Information sections.

    • To charge to an asset when there are multiple assets: Select the Asset field and then the asset to which the time should be charged.

    • To charge to a cost center: Select the Cost Center field and then select a cost center to which you want tie the time charge.

  11. Select the Comments field and then enter any necessary comments related to this time charge.

  12. Select the Procedures field and then select a procedure to which you want tie the time charge.

  13. Select the Cost Center field and then select a cost center to which you want tie the time charge.

  14. Select Save when you're done. (Cancel takes you back to the work order without entering the time charge.)

Add an Automatic Time Charge

To automatically add a new time charge to a work order by using the Start Automatic Time Charge button, follow these steps.

  1. Click the Start Automatic Time Charge button located in the bottom toolbar of the Work Order Edit screen to start the automatic time charge. This button will change to indicate that it is running.

  2. To pause the automatic time charge while it is running, select the button again. The button will change to indicate that it is paused.

  3. To stop the automatic time charge while it is running, select the Stop button.

  4. To save the automatic time charge, select Save.

  5. The time charge is added to the work order and the time charge grid (if present on the form) will reload. The Stop Automatic Time Charge button is hidden and the Start Automatic Time Charge button is reset to display the play option.

Update a Time Charge

To update an existing time charge on a work order, follow these steps.

  1. Open a work order in Work Order Edit.

  2. Select the Charges tab (or other tab with the Time Charges grid, if using a custom form).

  3. Select the time charge you want to update.

  4. Change the values you need to update.

  5. Select Save when you're done. (Cancel takes you back to the work order without updating the time charge.)

To delete a time charge from the work order, swipe over the record and select the Delete button when it appears.
