Sync Your Device and Your Data
The Sync feature allows you to download new and updated records to your device. Likewise, when you create and update records in TMS Sidekick, the Sync feature will upload your changes to the TMS database. When you use TMS Sidekick for the first time or after TMS Sidekick is upgraded on your device, TMS Sidekick automatically performs a synchronization on your device.
To sync your device, follow these steps:
-
On TMS Today, select the Menu icon to open the fly-out menu pane.
-
Select Sync in the menu.
-
On the Sync screen, select the Sync button.
How Does the Sync Feature Handle Your Data?
TMS Sidekick treats the data in different ways, depending on these scenarios:
-
If a user saves a new record on the iOS device, the new record is added to the local data store. When the user syncs the iOS device, the new record is added to the TMS database.
-
If a user edits a record on the iOS device, the modified record is updated in the local data store. When the user syncs the iOS device, the modified record is updated in the TMS database.
-
If a user creates a new record in TMS application, the new record is added to the TMS database. When the user logs into TMS Sidekick and syncs the device with the TMS database, the new record is copied from TMS database to device.
-
If a user edits a record in TMS application, the modified record is updated in the TMS database. When the user logs into TMS Sidekick and syncs the device with the TMS database, the modified record is copied from the TMS database to the iOS device and updated.
