About the Web Request Module
The Web Request module gives you an alternative to tracking maintenance requests sent via emails and called in by telephone. Web Request allows you to create pages on which individuals can enter new maintenance requests and view the status of requests that have already been entered. Web Request users can even enter new asset and equipment records, if you choose to allow this function on your Web Request pages.
Modern Web Request
A new version of Web Requests is entering Beta with TMS 5.23. This feature is TMS Online only until further notice.
The new version is called Modern Requests while the existing forms will be referred to as Classic Requests moving forward.
Modern Requests will not replace Classic at this time. Modern Request forms use newer web technologies for a better interface such as auto scaling for mobile devices. Those interested in testing the new forms should contact Support for a guide on how to configure.
The new Modern Web Request forms will not have full feature parity with Classic Web Request forms initially, but Modern Request forms do contain certain Classic Request features as 5.23 such as adding attachments to a request. Other features, such as enabling logins (SSO, Common, and AD), auto-insert requestor details are expected on Modern Requests in future releases.
Modern Requests work with multiple browsers Including:
-
iOS Safari and iPad OS Safari, Desktop Safari
-
Android mobile Chrome
-
Desktop Chrome
-
Desktop Edge-Chromium
Requirements for signing in
A non-TMS user can sign in to the Web Request module using their SSO credentials. This functionality works similar to signing in to Web Request using Active Directory (AD) credentials.
To enable SSO users to sign in to Web Request:
-
Choose between two options:
-
If you are configuring a new web request form, navigate to Modules > Web Request > New.
-
If you are editing an existing web request form, navigate to Modules > Web Request > Query.
-
-
Select Require Login Page. Accept All Credentials (TMS, AD, SSO).
-
Click Save.
SSO-Only sign in to TMS Login page will still require a mapped TMS user or a mapped SSO-to-TMS Security Group for auto-creating of new users.
Login Forms for Modern Requests
Similar to the Classic request forms, admins can now require login pages for Modern forms.
Sources of login credentials can include:
-
TMS Users
-
TMS-only users w/TMS Credentials
-
AD-users mapped to TMS users to login w/AD credentials
-
-
Non-TMS Users
-
AD-authentication only logins w/AD credentials
-
SSO-authentication only logins w/SSO credentials
-
Auto-Insert Details in Modern Request
Modern Request forms can now auto insert Requester info from the TMS user profile or SSO claims shared with TMS.
Each of the fields below can be auto populated if the Modern Request form has login accept all turned on and they exist on the users TMS profile.
-
Requester Name
-
Requester Phone
-
Requester Email
This auto-insert feature is enabled for all sites by default. If a user logs into Modern Request via AD, SSO, or Common TMS Login the forms will auto insert information from whichever source the user chooses to authenticate.
Customer Admins should ensure any of the above fields are NOT set to read only on their WR forms in case users need to modify the auto-inserted values.
Remember Me Login Option
The Remember Me option on the Modern Request setup forms works similar to the same feature on Classic.
If you have previously signed into the Modern Request form, you are not required to sign up on future visits to the page if the creator of the Modern form checked the remember me login option on the Modern Request form setup page.
