The Purchasing Module

Once your TMS system administrator has configured the options, codes, and defaults for the Purchasing module, you are ready to begin creating and generating requisitions and purchase orders, and blanket orders. Consult the chapters that follow for instruction on using the Purchase Orders, Blanket Orders, and Requisitions facets of the Purchasing module.

TMS OnLine/OnSite gives you the ability to have multiple forms in each module - standard forms that come with the application and custom forms your TMS system administrator may create. As a result, the forms you have may look different from the forms used in the guide's screen shots (extra fields and tabs may exist, or fields and tabs mentioned in a topic may not exist on the form you're looking at), and the fields and tabs available on your forms may also have different labels than those described within a topic.

In most of the topics you will read, the module's standard form (Dispatch (MAIN) Form, Purchase Order (TMS Enterprise)) has been used as the form for the example, except where noted. Depending upon your specific permissions within the application, you may not have access to one or more of the forms used in the guide. However, the basic procedures detailed within the guide are the same, regardless of the form you are using.

Standard Forms for the Purchasing Module

There are three forms that come standard with the Purchasing module:

The fields and tabs that appear on these forms in create and edit mode are based upon the fields and tabs that were available in the TMS Enterprise application. If you are a former user of TMS Enterprise, and you had experience with the Purchasing module in that application, some of these forms might look familiar.

We've included topics at the beginning of the sections that follow to list and describe the available tabs and fields on these forms. Click the topics in the table of contents to the left to view them, or select a link to the topic you want to view from the list above.
