Requisitions Business Rules

The required fields for the Requisition module are: Description, Segment, Account, Status, Sub Status, and Warehouse.

A requisition cannot be created with any Status other than Pending and Sub Status of Waiting on Approval.

A Pending requisition should have no data in the Approved By field.

A Pending requisition’s Status can only be changed to Approved or Canceled.

A Pending requisition’s Status cannot be changed to Approved if there are no line items on it.

An Approved requisition’s Status cannot be changed to Pending.

A Canceled or Closed requisition’s Status can never be changed.

A requisition’s Status cannot be changed to Canceled if a purchase order line item is tied to the requisition.

Line Items

Requisition line items might be issued to a warehouse, work order, asset, account, or resource.  

The required fields for a requisition line item are: Unit Cost, Quantity, UOM, Issue To (and a corresponding Warehouse, Work Order, Asset, Account, or Resource).

Unless the module option to Allow Materials on the fly is enabled, Item is a required field on a requisition line item.

If a requisition line item is for a Material on the fly then the item field should contain no data and the description field is required.

The default issue to is Warehouse and the default warehouse is pulled from the requisition itself.

If Vendor on the Fly is indicated for a requisition line item, then the Name, Address, and Phone Number fields are required.

The user might select only one Work Order, Asset, Account, Warehouse, or Resource for a requisition line item.  

Issues to a Work Order, Asset, Account, or Resource use the LIFO costing method.

Line items issued to work orders can only be issued to work orders of status Active.

Line items issued to assets can only be issued to assets that are not of status Inactive or Retired.

Line items issued to resources can only be issued to resources that are not of status Inactive.

Only requisition line items for Requisitions with a status of Pending might be edited.

Requisition line items might only be added to or deleted from Requisitions with a status of Pending.
