Use Sourcebase Manufacturer Codes in the Assets Module

Create new vendors using Sourcebase manufacturer codes in the Assets module or the Vendors module. Creating a vendor within the Assets module allows you to create two records simultaneously without switching modules.

Use Sourcebase manufacturer codes

  1. In the Assets module, select New to create an asset or Edit to modify an existing asset.
  2. Enter a valid Asset Number and select a form if necessary.
  3. Select ECRI next to Manufacturer Lookup. The ECRI Sourcebase Code Lookup screen appears.
  4. In Search by, select one of the following options to query for a manufacturer. For this topic, select Keyword(s).
    • Keyword(s): Search the Sourcebase database by keyword. Use the Country and State fields to filter results.
    • Sourcebase Code: Search by entering the specific manufacturer code.
    • UMDNS Code: Search for manufacturers tied to a specific UMDNS device code.
  5. In Search, enter your criteria (for example, "microscope").
  6. Complete the Country and State fields to narrow your search results.
  7. Select Search. TMS lists manufacturers with their city, state, and country.
  8. Select Edit in a row to view detailed manufacturer information in a new window.
  9. Double-click a manufacturer in the list to add it as a vendor to the TMS database.
    • If the manufacturer exists, TMS enters the Sourcebase code in the asset.
    • If the manufacturer does not exist, the Vendor Create screen appears.

Create a vendor

When the Vendor Create screen appears, it contains the following default values from Sourcebase.

  1. Enter additional information and select Save. The screen changes to Vendor Edit.
  2. Close the Vendor Edit screen. You return to the Asset Create screen with the manufacturer code populated.
  3. Complete the remaining required fields and save the asset.
