Use Multiple Databases
A single install of TMS Anywhere can only be tied to a single TMS database at a time. This is accomplished with the Configuration Utility, which we will cover in a later section. However, your organization might utilize multiple databases, such as one database for the Clinical Engineering department at Site A and another database for the Environmental Services department at Site B, and both of these databases will need to be accessed in TMS Anywhere.
If this is the case for your organization, there are two ways that you can go about doing this:
Scenario 1 - Alter the Configuration Utility Manually
In this scenario, you would install TMS Anywhere on a single server that each applicable TMS database will access. When Site A will be using TMS Anywhere, you would need to manually assign their database to the add-on via the Configuration Utility. Likewise, when Site B will be using the add-on application, you will then tie TMS Anywhere to their database via the Configuration Utility.
This scenario requires that you manually switch the TMS database that is associated with TMS Anywhere each time a different database is needed by the add-on application. If you require that more than one database have access to TMS Anywhere at the same time, you will need to use Scenario 2.
Scenario 2 - One for One - An Install of TMS Anywhere for Each TMS Database
If more than one database will be accessed in TMS Anywhere simultaneously, you will need to install the add-on application on separate servers for each database that will need to be accessed in TMS Anywhere. In this case, you will need to follow the steps in the Installing TMS Anywhere topic for each server on which you will install the add-on application.
