Add-on Modules & Active Directories

Active Directory affects several TMS add-on modules. These add-on modules require access to the domain controller.

Fluke Interface

This add-on module requires the user to log in. The Login screen has a Domain drop-down menu. During the initial log in and any subsequently required log ins, the user name and password combination are authenticated against the domain, if necessary.

TMS Anywhere

TMS Anywhere supports Active Directory. During the initial TMS Anywhere log in and any subsequently required logins, the user name and password combination are authenticated against the domain, if necessary. The password entered by the TMS Anywhere user is cached locally and used for authentication when the device is connected.

TMS Mobile 6.5 and TMS Notebook (retired)

TMS Mobile 6.5 and TMS Notebook support Active Directory. During the initial log in and any subsequently required log ins, the user name and password combination are authenticated against the domain, if necessary. The password entered by the user is cached locally and used for authentication when the device is connected.

TMS Inspections

TMS Inspections supports Active Directory. During the initial log in and any subsequently required log ins, the user name and password combination are authenticated against the domain, if necessary. The password entered by the user is cached locally and used for authentication when the device is connected.

Web Request

In order to use Active Directory with Web Request, you must check the option Require User Login and Authenticate only via Active Directory.  These options are found on the Main tab of the Web Request New and Edit screens. The server running Web Request must have network access to the domain controller.

With the Authenticate only via Active Directory option enabled, TMS does not create a new user in tblTMSUsers when a user logs in with their Active Directory credentials.

If the database passed to Web Request contains domains, the Domain drop-down menu is available on the Web Request login screen.
