User Conversion Wizard

The User Conversion Wizard allows you to associate existing Active Directory users with users in the TMS database.

To tie Active Directory users to TMS users, follow these steps:

  1. Setup > Security > Active Directory Setup.

  2. Next to the Active Directory domain you set up in the previous topic, click the User Conversion Wizard button. You are presented with the User Conversion Wizard.

  3. In the TMS User drop-down menu, select a user to map to an Active Directory user.

  4. In the AD User drop-down menu, select a user from Active Directory to tie to the TMS user that you selected in the step above.

    Important!

Convert the correct TMS user and AD User. If a TMS user is accidentally converted to the wrong AD user, there is no way inside of the TMS application to correct the issue. Correcting the issue would require direct editing of the database and tblTMSUsers and tblActiveDirectories.

  5. Click the Add to Grid button. The user tie is added to the grid.

  6. To tie more users, repeat steps 3-5 as many times as needed.

Users that have already been tied are removed from the drop-down menus.

  7. When you're done making Active Directory ties, click Save

To view all Active Directory users who have been converted or have logged into TMS with AD user credentials, go to Setup > Security > Users/Groups. TMS users associated with Active Directory have a domain prefix attached to their username (ex: [domain]\asmith2222) in the Users grid.

Users who were not converted with the User Conversion Wizard automatically appear in the Users grid when they log into TMS. They will have the Default Group Name given during AD Setup. You might need to adjust the Default Group Name for these users.

Because the User Conversion Wizard displays TMS users with just the UserIdent information, you might find it helpful to create a data source that displays both the UserName and the corresponding UserIdent information.
