Projects

The concept of a project in PowerWeb is a folder that contains all documentation that is generated or revised for a specific scope of work, often authorized by a contract with an external business partner. A PowerWeb project folder can be one of the following defaults types or it can be a custom project type defined in the Meridian Portal configuration as described in Manage project types.

Project types

Description

Administrative Change

Investment Projects

Projects undertaken with the hope of future returns on the investment as opposed to immediate revenue.

Major Projects

Large capital projects for the design, construction, or refurbishment of large assets and infrastructures. These projects may involve multiple organizations like internal engineering departments, third-party design teams, or equipment suppliers.

Pre Projects

Study Projects

For analysis and evaluation of a proposed project.

Each project has the following properties that users must enter when they create a project. The properties help identify and manage the project throughout its life cycle.

Project ID

Your organization's standard identifier, often used for accounting.

Project Name

Descriptive project identifier.

Project State

All projects use the following naming convention: <Project Type Code>-<Project ID>, for example, MP-Test Project 001.

PowerWeb provides the following project life cycle (workflow) for all projects created in the vault regardless of their type.

All project types require that all documents within them be issued prior to closing the project.
