Generate Work Orders Based on Preventive Maintenance
A key feature of the Work Order module is the utility that generates work orders based on definitions in preventive maintenance schedules. In most organizations, preventive maintenance schedules are set to automatically generate work orders when they are due.
However, some preventive maintenance schedules are set to display a notification ‘x’ days before the schedule is due to provide more control over work order generation and schedules. The feature described in this section is used to generate work orders for these preventive maintenance schedules.
Preventive maintenance schedules define the frequency on which work orders should be generated for specific assets and the procedures/tasks to be performed each time the schedule is due. The preventive maintenance schedule, or the procedure with which it is associated, can also define default settings for the generated work orders and determine documents that should be attached. In addition, based on the definition included in defined procedures, estimated labor, parts, and other costs can be defined for the work orders and automatic labor assignments.
A Preventive Maintenance Preference is available to determine whether or not manual work order generation should occur in the background. It is recommended that you set this preference to Yes to improve efficiency and eliminate time out errors encountered when large batches are generated.
