Global Search
Global Search provides a fast and efficient method to find records throughout the system or search for associated records, such as those tied to a given asset name, labor name, or part.

Click Global Search on the toolbar, or select Tools > Global Search.

Enter a complete value, such as a work order ID or asset ID, or partial text, such as part of a technician’s name or asset name.

If you have access to multiple repair centers, select All Accessible Repair Centers? to include all of them in the search.

Click the right arrow icon to start the search.

Select the row that corresponds to the type of record you are seeking.
The list pane updates to display a Search tab for the specified module, containing a list of the matching records.

Click a record to display it in the Work Center.
Search results remain in the Search tab until you perform a new search or leave the page.
Search results
Maintenance Connection evaluates the following fields in each available module, looking for matching records:

Work Orders: Work Order #/ID, Reason/Description, Asset, Requester, Problem, Taken By, Assignee, Work Order Labor, Work Order Part.

Assets: Asset, Classification, Model, Asset Part, Serial #.

Parts: Part, Description, Internal Part Number, Vendor Part Number.

Purchase Orders: Purchase Order #/ID, Description, Vendor, Requester, Line Item Part.

Projects: Project ID, Name, Asset, Work Order ID.

Labor, Requesters, and Contacts: ID/Name, Email.
Search preferences
Go to Tools > Preferences > System > Settings to define the modules to search and choose whether to return inactive records.

Global Search Modules: Select the modules you want to search.

Include Inactive Records in Global Search Results: Select Yes to include closed work orders, purchase orders, inactive labor records, and out-of-service assets in the search results.
Global search examples
Parts: Entering or scanning a Part ID returns a row for the matching part. The search also returns rows for all work orders with the part listed as estimated or actual. It shows all purchase orders with the part in the line item details and all assets with the part listed.
Assets: Entering an Asset ID or Asset Name returns a row for the matching asset, along with rows for all work orders linked to the asset, and all projects linked to the asset.
Labor: Entering a Labor ID or Labor Name returns a row for the labor record. It also returns a row for all work orders linked to the individual through assignments, requested/taken by, or estimated/actual labor. It shows a row for any purchase orders linked to the individual, and a row for any assets linked to the individual as Asset Labor.
