Use Asset Defaults

The Use Asset Default check box is displayed at the top of the Assets page. It is used to control whether the generated work orders should use the attribute values stored in the asset to populate the generated work orders or whether it should override these default values with the values you specify here.

If this option is selected:

  • Any asset information specified by clicking the Update button or double-clicking an asset will be ignored.

  • A series of additional check boxes appear allowing you to select which attributes should be pulled from the asset records.

  • A generated work order will include the attributes that exist for the asset at the time of work order generation. If you select this option and a default value does not exist for an asset, the system will search up the asset tree until a value is found in a parent asset (as is done on corrective work orders).

If this option is not selected:

  • Work orders are generated using the attributes you define for each asset on this page, regardless of the value defined for the asset.

  • As updates are made to the asset record, they are not reflected in the work order or the preventive maintenance history.

  • Empty attributes are not defaulted to the parent asset values; they are left empty.

Use asset defaults for generated work orders:

  1. Select the Use Asset Defaults check box.

Additional options display so that you can select which types of attributes should be dynamically referenced.

  2. Select the check boxes corresponding to the attributes you want to default.

  3. Click Save.
