Explore the benefits of upgrading your on-premise Maintenance Connection solution to the cloud:

ClosedNew features in 2025

Refreshed icons and UI in the Main Application

We've updated the icons in the list pane and across modules to improve clarity and enhance your experience.

Customize labels in the new MC Service Requester

You can now customize labels in the MC Service Requester form. The customized labels appear when you create, submit, or view the details of a service request.

In the new MC Service Requester, go to Configure > Added Fields, and click Edit"" next to the field name you want to update.

The beta version of the MC Service Requester is available to early adopter applicants.

Refreshed Image Library and search

We've refreshed the Image Library tab with a new look where you can easily attach photos or images to assets and search with a much improved response time.

New rich text editor

Use the new text editor to create and edit task descriptions in the Work Orders and Procedures modules with more formatting options. Configure headers, lists, tables, images, and more in a simplified way.

Work order dates filter

In the work order History grid, you can now filter work orders by date types, including target date, completed date, closed date, and by a custom date range.

ClosedUpgrade from MC 2023.9

You will benefit from all the features above and more:

Export work order data from the Grid view

You can now export work order data to Excel or CSV directly from the Grid view. Grid's versatility, combined with this export capability, offers an easy way to create work orders lists and capture the data for all uses of Excel and CSV.

Match labor info to member signing in with SSO

When we update the MC login page in the near future, you can automatically update labor information in an instance of Maintenance Connection to match the identity provider for your single-sign on (SSO) solution. When a member signs in using SSO, their member name and email address in MC are updated to match that information in the identity provider. If you have configured labor records to update to match names and emails in the corresponding member record, labor names and emails automatically update when the user signs in with SSO.

If a member is associated with labor records in multiple instances of MC, labor updates (if enabled) only occur in the instance they have directly signed into.

Add failure classification to service requests

MC-14173, MC-14164

You can now configure the Service Requester to include a failure classification. Failure Class selection determines which predefined asset problems people can add to their requests, allowing you to use your asset failure analysis processes to address the service request more efficiently.

Search for service requests by number

People can now search for service requests by their work order number on the Service Requester Status page, making it easier to find the status of a particular service request they've submitted.

Note that searches can only return exact work order number matches and they only appear if the user has access to view the request. Also, searching by work order number functions independently of any filters set on the Status page.

Export from Grid view

You can now export data to Excel or CSV directly from the Grid view in any module where the Grid view is present. Grid's versatility, combined with this export capability, offers an easy way to create lists from applicable modules and capture the data for all uses of Excel and CSV.

Type ahead

Type-ahead fields in MC now display up to 10 partial matches to choose from as you begin typing a value into the field, optimizing type-ahead functionality and making your data input faster and more accurate.

Login page and URL updates

As part of updating to Central Authentication v3 (CAV3) as a security enhancement, we split out the MC Express login page (now express.maintenanceconnection.com) from the Main Application (MRO) login page (now app.maintenanceconnection.com). The old URL (login.maintenanceconnection.com) prompts you to sign in to the new URLs, but please update bookmarks to the new URLs for ease-of-use.

Typeahead improvements

We enhanced styling for the list of partial matches that appears as you begin entering a value into a typeahead field, making it easier to read and select the correct value from the list.

Dashboard

The new dashboard on the Summary home page includes:

  • Bulletins to inform you of announcements.

  • New KPIs to enhance the communication of key operational data-points.

  • New bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts, and widgets to improve your visualization experience.

Dive deeper into KPI data with a single click

We applied click-action options to the new Home Summary dashboard, allowing you to click on a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) card to open a corresponding report or, as a new feature, to open an external link to view more details about the data shown. The legacy option to run JavaScript upon a click now only appears for KPIs for which you previously applied that click action, preventing the creation of any new actions that might pose a security risk, while preserving existing configurations.

You can configure click actions on the Edit KPI page.

Photo access control

The photo attachment permissions now apply to the Asset, Category, Classification, Company, Contacts, Craft, Customer, Department, Failure, Inventory, Labor, Procedure, Project, Project Plan, Preventive Maintenance, Requester, Repair Center, Shift, Shop, Stock room, Tool, Tool Room, Training, and Zone.

This provides granular access control, ensuring that you can only perform actions on photos as permitted by your access group rights. The permissions available are:

  • New: Add photos when creating new records within module.

  • Edit: Attach, remove, or replace photos on existing records.

  • View: View photos.

ClosedUpgrade from MC 2022.10

You will benefit from all the features above and more:

New filter for problem, cause, and remedy codes

You can now filter problem, cause, and remedy codes by failure class or asset class, or you can Show all (equivalent to removing the filter) when selecting codes for failure analysis. If a Failure Class is populated for the work order asset, only codes associated with the class appear by default. If not associated with a Failure Class, only codes associated with the asset class appear by default. If there are no codes associated via either class, Show all is applied.

Updated look and feel of module lookups

We updated the look and feel of some module lookups to improve the experience of filtering, searching,

and making selections from them. We used many of the concepts available in the grid experience for List

views but kept the module lookup functionality in tact.

Introducing the Translation Manager

The new Translation Manager tool (available in the Tools > System menu) lets you manage translations of global labels and user-entry data across your instance of Maintenance Connection. You can edit translations directly in the tool.

Translation of user-entry data

We improved the user experience for non-English users by translating user-entry text in the Work Orders and Assets modules, such as non-English selections for lookup tables and module lookups.

Note that codes for lookup tables have not been translated, but the user-entry values that correspond to them have.

Right-click menu in grid view

To match functionality in the legacy list view and module lookups, we added the right-click option for the grid view, allowing you to open a menu when you right click on a record in a module list or module lookup.

Drag and drop from grid view

To match functionality in the legacy list view, you can now drag and drop records (primarily ID values) from the grid viewList pane into the WorkCenter to populate fields. For example, you can drag and drop a project from the Projects list onto a work order record in the WorkCenter to populate the Project field.

Manage automatic translations in the Translation Manager

The new Translation Manager now lets you allow/disallow the system to automatically translate values for specific languages and areas in the application on its regular sync.

This feature within the Translation Manger is available for purchase. Reach out to your account executive to learn more.

Accruent Observe integration

The integration with Accruent Observe automatically creates work orders in Maintenance Connection to address alarms and flagged conditions in telemetry data. The telemetry data also verifies whether work has been completed, allowing or preventing work order closure based on the data. You can also view the telemetry data from Observe directly in Maintenance Connection in work orders created via the integration.

New look and feel for alerts

We updated alert notifications to give them a more modern look and feel. The primary messaging in alerts has not changed.

Search by yes/no value in Grid view

You can now search by a yes or no value in boolean fields (such as Warranty? and Shutdown required?) in the Grid view. For example, in the Work Orders Grid view, you can display all the work order assets that are under warranty.

Updated messaging in alerts

We followed up the new look and feel for alerts by updating the messaging in them. Messages are now simpler, provide helpful instruction where applicable, and align with current industry best practices for alert messages.

New access group rights for purchase order sub-status

Permission to view and edit a purchase order sub-status is now determined by access group rights at Access Groups > Rights > Purchase Order Module > Fields. The six new rights are enabled by default.

Login page updates

We are updating to Central Authentication v3 (CAV3) as a security enhancement, with the following changes:

  • We are splitting out the MC Express login page (express.maintenanceconnection.com) from the Main Application (MRO) login page (app.maintenanceconnection.com).

  • The old URL automatically redirects to the new one, but please update bookmarks to the new URLs.

View and annotate Meridian documents directly in MC

MC-10297

You can now view and annotate documents sourced in Meridian directly in applicable Attach pages, rather than having to navigate and sign in to Meridian to do so. To remove risk of document disagreement, we also disabled updating Meridian asset associations in MC to maintain Meridian as the single source of truth for all documents it sources. This keeps MC and Meridian in sync and ensures proper document versioning.

Reach out to your account executive for more information.

External document versioning and snapshotting

MC-10297

The Meridian integration with Maintenance Connection now supports document versioning and snapshotting, ensuring work order compliance with the appropriate binding documentation. These features apply to all externally-sourced documents in MC.

Accruent Observe integration market release

MC-11121, MC-10667, MC-11096

The integration with Accruent Observe is now available for purchase! The integration automatically creates work orders in Maintenance Connection to address alarms and flagged conditions in asset sensor data received from Accruent Observe. The asset sensor data also verifies whether work has been completed, allowing or preventing work order closure based on the data. You can also view the asset sensor data from Observe directly in Maintenance Connection in work orders created via the integration.

Reach out to your account executive to learn more about using this integration.

Translate default work order reasons

We created a new preference to translate default, auto-generated work order reasons into non-English languages. Default work order reasons generated for follow up work orders and meter readings outside of the acceptable range translate into the selected language on the work order.

Include link in emailed work order assignments

You can now include a link to a work order in emails sent via the Rules Manager, giving direct work order access to technicians who are notified via email of a work order assignment.

ClosedUpgrade from MC 2022.2

You will benefit from all the features above and more:

Require asset downtime/return to service by work order type

We added two new preferences and an asset group right to facilitate setting asset downtime/return to service defaults by work order type.

Two new preferences for asset downtime/return to service

We added two preferences to improve control over asset downtime. You can now require setting asset downtime and/or returning an asset to service based on work order type. Previously, only the blanket preferences for all work orders were available. The new preferences save technicians time in the complete/close process, as they are only forced to engage controls for asset downtime when it is needed (such as with corrective work orders, as opposed to preventive maintenance work orders).

New access group right for editing asset downtime

When a work order requires a technician to record asset downtime, the Edit downtime check box on enhanced complete close access group right keeps the technician from clearing the Set Downtime check box before closing the work order. Making the option read only forces the technician to record asset downtime when it is required.

Downtime units consistent in MC Express and Main Application (MRO)

We updated the Downtime units preference to ensure it applies to both MC Express and the Main Application (MRO). Now, when you record asset downtime in either application, the units (days, hours, or minutes) remain consistent in both.

API updates

Updates to the Graph QL API now allow you to:

  • Create an inventory part.

  • Create an asset.

  • Query and filter by stockroom.

  • Query PhotoURLs.

  • Add asset parts.

  • Search parts by stockroom.

  • Attach images.

  • Return and remove assets from service.

  • Add/remove labor to/from assets.

  • Add or remove asset specifications.

  • Add part vendors.

  • Delete assets.

  • Search for, add, and update alternate parts.

  • Add and update part specifications.

  • Add part notes.

  • Apply pending inventory counts.

  • Transfer parts.

  • Search for purchase orders.

  • Add and update asset parts.

  • Add and update part location/stockroom.

  • Add latitude and longitude coordinates to work orders.

  • Update part vendors.

  • Remove asset downtime.

  • Update asset downtime.

  • Create a part location without a cycle count.

Membership invite email enhancements

System settings are now honored for the to/from email addresses used in membership invite emails, making the emails more trustworthy to recipients.

Require asset downtime and return asset to service by multiple work order types

We introduced the ability to require setting asset downtime and return an asset to service upon work order completion, both based on work order type. Building on this feature, you can now configure multiple work order types to require setting asset downtime and/or return an asset to service upon closing an associated work order.

Date/time selection for asset downtime

When closing a work order and recording asset downtime, you can now select the Shutdown and InService Date/Time from widgets rather than having to type the values.

New grid experience in List view

The new grid experience transforms the List and Expanded List views in Maintenance Connection, giving you more dynamic control over records shown and the ability to take action on them more efficiently.

Auto-calculations for asset downtime

When you add asset downtime while closing a work order in the Main Application (MRO), the system now auto-calculates downtime or the return to service date and time, depending on the downtime entry mode you choose. We created a new preference so that the Main Application (MRO) mirrors asset downtime entry in MC Express. In the Preferences > Asset > Defaults category, you can set the Downtime entry mode to either enter asset downtime manually or enter the asset shutdown and return to service dates and times to auto-calculate downtime.

Translation improvements

We enhanced the use of Maintenance Connection in non-English languages by providing a more complete experience, including improved translations of labels, menu options, and validation and error messages.

Meter reading prediction and validation

The system now predicts a final meter reading range based on meter history and prompts you to double-check the reading entered if it falls outside the predicted range. This prediction and validation

prevents you from saving meter readings entered in error.

When you select a meter reading to enter a value, text displays the predicted range for that meter. Note that you must have asset meter tracking turned on and at least 4 previous meter readings recorded for the predicted range to display. If you enter a reading outside the predicted range and then click or tap away from the field, a message displays prompting you to check the reading again.

Click MC Express to go Home

You can now click MC Express at the top of all MC Express pages to return to the Home page.

Add latitude/longitude for asset location

You can now add latitude/longitude coordinates for assets. The coordinates transfer to work orders to help technicians locate assets more easily. You can still define a physical address for location (Type L) assets, such as buildings, but equipment (Type A) assets only show latitude and longitude.

Require photo upon task failure

We created a new preference that allows you to require a photo for a task failure. A photo of the asset tied to the work order can verify why a technician marked a task as failed. The Show work order task images preference must also be turned on to honor this preference. You can set this preference separately for the Main Application (MRO) and MC Express.

Failure analysis enhancements

We renamed Maintenance Connection’s failure analysis solution from Problem/Failure/Solution to Problem/Cause/Remedy to align with current industry standards. And, in response to the most highly requested enhancement in our Ideas portal, we made several improvements to failure analysis as a whole, including the ability to create failure classifications and enhancements that ensure proper failure code input.

ClosedUpgrade from MC 2021.2 or earlier versions

You will benefit from all the features above and more:

Attach a document to multiple assets at once

You can now attach files stored in the Documents module to multiple assets at once. This means, for example, that you can attach safety instructions to an entire class of assets in one step, rather than having to attach the document to each asset record individually.

Attach Image replacing snapshot feature

We replaced the Snapshot option in all Attach Image dialog boxes with an Attach Image option. This replaces the Flash component with an HTML-5 component as Flash was deprecated at the end of 2020.

The new Attach Image process mirrors the snapshot functionality but with a new look and feel. As with the updated barcode scanning, you must allow camera access to your browser when prompted for the feature to work properly.

Pie charts show count in Reporter

Pie charts in the Reporter now display a count as well as a percentage, giving a more detailed snapshot of the data represented.

Barcode and QR code updates in MC Express

We expanded barcode and QR code functionality in MC Express to support scanning on Windows mobile devices and we improved scanning for all devices across the board, including improved scanning speed and immediate feedback on barcode and QR code reads. Scanning is also now supported on desktop computers running MC Express.

Stockroom Summary field for inventory parts

We added the Stockroom Summary field to the Details page of the Inventory module, allowing you to see inventory for a part at a glance.

New Country field in Company module

There is now a Country field in the Company module to capture that address data for companies.

API updates to facilitate receiving sensor data

We updated the API to allow you to store meter readings and specification data in Maintenance Connection to facilitate capturing data from IoT sensors. In addition, we previously added APIs to allow work orders to be programmatically created. While this is generally useful, the use case in mind is to enable a work order to be automatically created based on an alarm condition or other alert triggered by sensors.

API updates

You can now take the following new actions in the Graph QL API:

  • UpdateAssetMeter: Updates the meter reading on an asset.

  • UpdateSpecification: Updates specification readings.

  • UpdateAssetSpecification: Updates specifications on an asset.

  • CreateSpecification: Creates a specification.

  • Work Order Assignment (Query): Pulls data on work order assignments.

  • Work Order Assignment (Mutation): Creates labor assignment on a work order.

  • Work Order Costs (Query): Pulls work order costs for labor, parts, and miscellaneous costs.

  • Work Order Costs (Mutations): Creates or updates work order costs for labor, parts, and miscellaneous costs.

  • Work Order Attachments (Query): Pulls data on work order attachments.

  • Asset History (Query): Pulls data on asset history.

  • Work Order Tasks (Query): Pulls data on work order tasks.

  • View Inventory/Parts (Query): Pulls data on inventory parts.

  • AddOrUpdate Basic WO Tasks (Mutation): Adds or updates basic work order tasks (not linked to any meters, specifications, assets, and so on).

  • Inventory Classifications (Query): Pulls data on inventory classifications.

  • Asset Classifications (Query): Pulls data on asset classifications.

Phone number info for new members

The new member sign-up process now has a field to input a phone number. Administrators can also add member phone information in Membership module when creating a member invitation.

View/print Work Order Statement in MC Express

You can now print the Work Order Statement from MC Express, allowing technicians in the field to print receipts or statements of work from their device. In Work Order Preferences you can make reports other than the Work Order Statement available to view/print in MC Express as well.

Updates to Email to Work Order functionality

We updated Email to Work Order functionality to work with other email accounts, like Office 365.

MC Express automatically loads record with Global Search

In MC Express, when you search for a record and there is only one valid search result, the record opens directly. This skips the step of selecting the one valid record from the search results window, shortening the navigation process.

Reintroducing the tasks snapshot feature

We reintroduced the snapshot feature for work order tasks after deprecating the Flash-based snapshots in the previous release. The snapshot feature is now HTML5-based.

Password change ends session

Changing a password now results in the user’s session ending. If you change your own password, you will be signed out of the system and will need to sign in again. If you change someone else’s password who is in a live session, the user will be signed out of their session.

Work order tasks column headers freeze at top of screen

The column headers on the Work Orders Tasks page now freeze at the top of the screen, allowing you to view the column headers as you scroll down the page

MC Express barcode scanning updates

In MC Express, you can now accept a barcode reading by selecting the Barcode ID dialog that opens after a scan. Making this dialog clickable makes the barcode scanning process more intuitive.

Updated whitelist for uploads

We updated the acceptable file types to upload to Maintenance Connection.

Updated new member events in Rules Manager

We updated the Rules Manager to capture both processes for new member creation: the legacy member approval process and the new member invitation process. Now, the Member Approval Needed (Self Registration) event and the Member Invitation Accepted event correspond to each process respectively. The Member Approval Needed (Self Registration) event replaces the Member Sign Up event of previous versions.

Read only field updates

You can now copy the value in a read only field to paste elsewhere. We also made the whole value viewable so you can see all the contents in a given read only field.

Attach Documents module files to any record on demand

You can now upload files directly to the Documents module, making them available to link to any record in the system that accepts attachments. For example, you can upload a PDF of special instructions to the Documents module and then attach that PDF to multiple records in the system.

Library Link label change

We repurposed the Library Link label to refer to universally accessible files stored in the Documents module. The new Record Link label refers to files attached directly to a record but not stored in the Documents module. As such, all current Library Link documents have been relabeled to Record Link. A Record Link can be converted to a Library Link so that you can attach it to other records in the system.
