Style Editing Tool
A Style Editing Tool (CSS Edit) is available to assist in defining styles used in the system. The tool is available in multiple places, including conditional formatting styles for List Preferences (such as Work Order, Assets, and Parts), alert styles, and report custom formatting.
The Style Editing Tool provides options to set text style, background colors, and borders/outlines.
Each time the tool is accessed, you must define all desired style settings. Previously defined styles are not stored in the tool; they must be specified each time. Default values for font-family, font-size, color, and text alignment are applied each time the tool is accessed. You should always define these four settings to your liking to ensure that the tool defaults are not unintentionally applied.
Keep the following information in mind while using the Style Editor:
-
The default settings are defined below:
-
Font Style: Arial.
-
Font Size: 10.
-
Font Color: Black.
-
Text Alignment: Left.
-
The default settings are applied even if these settings are not specifically configured in the tool. If you do not want to use these settings, you should select your preferred settings.
-
Not all styles shown are supported in all browsers.
For example, many browsers do not support the Box Shadow settings.
-
Once the Style Editor is closed and the defined style is applied in the Maintenance Connection field, you can overwrite the HTML that is populated as needed. If desired, an unintentional entry can be completely deleted.
-
To revert to a Maintenance Connection default on any custom style definition, remove the HTML Style that is populated into the field.
-
Access the Style Editor from the appropriate option in Maintenance Connection:
-
Preferences: Format Styles (Edit button).
-
Rules Manager: Notification Action (Alert Style icon on Alert tab Styles).
-
Report Setup: Style/Format tab sub-tabs (Format Style icon)
The Style Editor opens, defaulted to the Content and Text section.
-
Use the available options in the Content and Text section to set the font family, size, style, color, and alignment.
By default, the font family will be set to Arial, font size to 10 point, font color to black, and alignment to left. These settings will be applied if not otherwise set or modified.
-
Text Size can be modified by entering a number into the available field, or by sliding the control.
-
Font color can be modified by clicking a desired color.
The associated HTML Color Tag will be populated into the field prompt.
-
Check boxes are available to set the font style to bold or italic.
-
Alignment can be set as desired.
-
Padding can be used to increase the padding around the text.
-
The Content field can be modified if you want to enter text to see how the changes will appear.
Module Lists in Maintenance Connection display in Arial 8 point by default. If you are updating a preference for a format style and want to keep the same font size, ensure that 8 is set.
As modifications are made, changes to font color, size and style is shown in the area in the upper-right and the associated HTML for the style is shown in the lower-right.
