Edit Geographic Restrictions

When you edit a report, you can apply geographic restrictions to a report so that only a certain subset of data is returned when the report is run.

You can use filtering by Portfolio to impose a hard restriction on the report that you don't want users to change. You can use this for integrations, scheduled reports, and portfolio-specific reports.

Note:

Improperly applied restrictions prevent relevant data from being displayed.

If you created a portfolio-specific fiscal calendar and filtered your report to only include data from that specific portfolio, Report Builder follows this logic:

  • Calendar date matching maps to the portfolio’s fiscal calendar, and

  • The header of the report references the fiscal calendar used.

For example, “Date range for this report is from 01/01/2019 to 12/31/2019 for the East Division fiscal calendar.”

If you have not created a portfolio-specific calendar or you have not filtered your report to only one fiscal calendar, the report will use the firm calendar.

To filter your report by a geographic area:

  1. Open the report you want to edit.

  2. Click Edit geographic restrictions the header.

    The Geographic restrictions window opens.

  3. Select option on the left for the category of geographic restriction you want to apply. For example, Portfolio, Region, or Sub Region.

The filters listed depend on the chosen category and the filters you have already added.

  4. Select the filters you want to apply.

Press and hold CTRL on your keyboard to select multiple values.

  5. Click Add Filter.

The filters you selected are listed in the Reports will be limited to data pane.

  6. To remove a filter, click Remove link.

  7. Click Finish.

    The window closes.

  8. To save your changes, click Save in the header of the Report Builder, to the right of the report name.
