Report Security

As a System Administrator, you can control who can view a report by configuring report security in your firm.

Note:

These procedures are primarily intended for system administrators. If you do not have access to the settings described below and you believe you should, contact your system administrator.

ClosedConfigure Report Page Access Permissions

To configure the user permissions of your reports:

  1. Click Admin in the toolbar in the upper-right corner of the window.

    The System Administrator Dashboard page opens.

  2. Click Manage Security link in the Member Administration column.

    The Page Access page opens.

  3. Select the user class whose security permissions you want to change from the field at the top of the page.

    The page refreshes, and the security permissions of the selected user class appear on the page.

  4. Click A small, white, square button with a plus symbol in its center. next to the Reports folder.

    The Reports folder expands, and two sub-folders appear, named Create a Report and Saved Reports.

  5. To change the Create a Report user permissions:

    1. Click A small, white, square button with a plus symbol in its center. next to the Create a Report folder.

      The folder expands.

    2. Select the option you want tor the user:

      • No Access: No access to the Reports module.

      • View: Run reports, but not make changes or delete reports.

      • Edit: Create, edit, and run reports, but not delete them.

      • Delete: Full permissions. Create, edit, run, and delete reports.

      • Default: If a parent folder, inherit the value from the Default Security user class. If Child item or child folder, inherit the settings from the parent folder.

  6. To change the user permissions for individual reports:

    1. Click A small, white, square button with a plus symbol in its center. next to the Saved Reports folder.

      The folder expands. A list of report folders appears.

    2. Find the folder where the report whose user permissions you want to change is stored.

    3. Click A small, white, square button with a plus symbol in its center. next to the report folder.

    4. Find the report whose user permissions you want to change.

      You can apply the same user permissions to the entire folder by selecting the security setting at the folder-level, or you can apply user settings at the individual report-level.

    5. Select the option you want for the user:

      • No Access: No access to the report.

      • View: Run report, but not make changes or delete it.

      • Edit: Create, edit, and run report, but not delete it.

      • Delete: Full permissions. Create, edit, run, and delete report.

      • Default: If a parent folder, inherit the value from the Default Security user class. If Child item or child folder, inherit the settings from the parent folder.

    6. Repeat steps a - e for other reports as necessary.

  7. Click Apply Changes.

    The page refreshes. Your changes are saved.

  8. Repeat steps 3 - 7 to change the user permissions of another user class.

ClosedConfigure Report Actions Permissions

You can configure user permissions to create public reports and change the folder structure of the Reports module:

  1. Click Admin in the toolbar in the upper-right corner of the window.

    The System Administrator Dashboard page opens.

  2. Click Manage Security link in the Member Administration column.

    The Page Access page opens.

  3. Select the Actions tab at the top of the page.

    The Actions page opens.

  4. At the top of the page, select the user class where you want to change security permissions.

    The page refreshes, and the security permissions of the selected user class appear on the page.

  5. Locate the Create Public Reports setting.

    You can use your browser's Find function locate the setting.

  6. Select the option you want for Create Public Reports:

    • No Access: No access to create public reports.

    • View: View only permission for public reports.

    • Edit: View and edit permissions for public reports.

    • Default: Inherit the security setting of the Default Security user class.

  7. Locate the Manage Report Folders setting.

    You can use your browser's Find function locate the setting.

  8. Select the option you want for Manage Report Folders:

    • No Access: No access to make changes to the folder structure of the Reports module.

    • View: View only permission for the folder structure of the Reports module.

    • Edit: Create new folders and move folders within the Reports module.

    • Default: Inherit the security setting of the Default Security user class.

  9. Click Apply Changes at the bottom of the page.

    The page refreshes. Your changes are saved.

  10. Repeat these change the user permissions of another user class.
