Creating a Logo Field in Lucernex
This guide will take you step-by-step through the procedures necessary to add or update a firm logo field in the system.
These procedures are primarily intended for system administrators. If you do not have access to the settings described below and you believe you should, contact your system administrator.
Image Specifications & Recommendations
The following sections outline our recommendations for logo images.
Image Sources
-
Ask your marketing department for an appropriate file.
This is our best practice recommendation.
-
Download your logo from Lucernex.
If you are updating your logo from what was previously uploaded to Lucernex, start from the image displayed in the user interface, not with one used in the sales letter. We recommend this because sales letter logos are usually too large to be displayed in the user interface.
-
Pull your company’s logo from existing template documents.
-
Search online for your company’s logo.
See the Image Modification section if you need to modify your logo.
File Formats
-
PNG (preferred)
-
best when transparency is needed
-
best for images with text or sharply contrasting edges
-
-
GIF
-
offers transparency, but not as good as PNG
-
-
JPG/JPEG
-
offers the greatest color palette, which is usually only needed for photographs
-
Dimensions
-
Preferred
-
width: 25 – 200 pixels
-
height: 25 pixels or less
-
-
Maximum
-
width: 240 pixels
-
height: 42 pixels
-
If these sizes are too restrictive for your logo, we can discuss more advanced styling options.
Image Modification
The following sections describe actions you might want to take to modify your logo image.
Change File Formats
If you do not have access to a logo in one of the acceptable formats—PNG, GIF, or JPG—you can often change the file format using applications that already exist on your computer. If not, you can search online for a free tool, using search terms such as “convert TIF to PNG online for free”.
Resize
Some logos may be too large to display online. You will want to resize your logo without reducing image quality or distorting the aspect ratio (relative dimensions). You may do this with applications that already exist on your computer or free online tools. Whichever tool you use, make sure you know how to keep a high resolution and lock the aspect ratio before making your adjustments.
Add Transparency
Some logos have background colors that don’t look good on Lucernex’s blue header. To eliminate the background, you will need to make it transparent.
JPG/JPEG file formats do not allow transparency.
