Manage Task Settings

Use these settings to configure task behaviors and rules.

Add a task type

Task types define how the system manages tasks. Configure task types to control mobile workflows, scheduling behavior, skills requirements, services, approvals, and other task settings.

  1. Select Settings > Work order settings > Task types > Add new.
  2. Enter a Name and Description.
  3. From Choose type, select an option:
    • Mobile: Use this option to select a mobile workflow for crew leads or technicians to follow in the mobile app.
    • Web: Crew leads and technicians manage tasks entirely in the web application. Web tasks do not use mobile workflows.
  4. From This task can be assigned to, select an option:

    • Single technician: Assigns tasks to single technicians.

For this option, select whether to enable or disable Travel status, which indicates when a technician is en route to a job site.

    • Crews: Assigns tasks to crews.

If using a mobile workflow, select a mobile access level for crew members. With Partial access, crew members can view schedules, review task details, and manage attendance. With No access, crew members do not interact with the mobile app.

  5. Optionally, to turn on services, select Enabled from the Services list.

Once turned on, you can add services to the task type from the Services tab.

Adding a service makes it available for technicians to use within the task. Technicians aren't required to perform a task service.

  6. Enter the Estimated task duration (hours).

  7. Select List options category and List options as available Rejection reasons and Cancellation reasons.
  8. Select Save & continue.

Configure required skills

Define the skills and skill levels required to perform the task type.

The recommendation engine and auto scheduler compare these requirements with technician skills when identifying suitable resources.

  1. Go to Settings > Work order settings > Work order types.
  2. Select a task type.
  3. Select Skill requirements > Add new.
  4. Select a Skill and the Minimum required skill level.
