Installation and Activation of EMS for Outlook – Microsoft 365

Learn how to install and activate EMS for Outlook – Microsoft 365.

To update to future versions of EMS for Outlook – Microsoft 365, uninstall the old version and reinstall the new version on your application server. The system pushes the update automatically.

ClosedInstall EMS for Outlook – Microsoft 365

  1. From the downloads portal, download Ems.Web.Addin.msi.

  2. Run the .msi file on your application server.

  3. Enter the full path for the installation location and click Next.

  4. Enter your environment's Platform Services URL and the virtual directory name you want. Click Next.

  5. Click Install. You might be asked to provide admin consent.

We recommend enabling the EMS for Outlook – Microsoft 365 add-in for a small set of users first to test the add-in before enabling it for the entire team.

For End Users

  1. Download the manifest file from your virtual directory:

    1. On-prem customers: https://<YourCompany>.com/EmsWebAddin/manifest.xml

    2. Cloud customers: https://<YourOrg>.emscloudservice.com/outlook-web/manifest.xml

  2. Click https://aka.ms/olksideload to open Outlook add-in management:

  3. Click My add-ins

  4. Click Add a custom add-in

  5. Select Add from File...

  6. Upload the downloaded manifest file.

  7. Click Install.

  8. If Outlook shows a warning about adding a custom add-in, select Install to continue.

For Exchange Administrators (Enabling for Entire Organization)

  1. Navigate to the Exchange Admin Center.

  2. Select Organizations > Add-ins.

  3. Click the plus sign.

  4. Select Add from URL.

  5. Enter the manifest.xml URL for your virtual directory:

    1. On-prem customers: https://<YourCompany>.com/EmsWebAddin/manifest.xml

    2. Cloud customers: https://<YourOrg>.emscloudservice.com/outlook-web/manifest.xml

  6. Click Install.
